Whoopsy.
Is there no recovery console? I know PSP only has one with CFW, but it seems like a logical thing to have as firmwares get bigger and more complex.
Hell, even my Zen has a recovery mode for if firmware fucks up.

haha and yeah thank god it does, I've already had to use it on mine because it just kinda locks up at times when it's plugged in and there's no other way to make it usable again except using the reset button.

Mine locked up after a few hours play when I first got it (to the point where I'd carry a paper-clip in my wallet so I could reset it), but after a firmware update it's been solid.
I'm lolling at the Official Playstation Forums thread linked in the post. Everyone with a problem is being accused of trolling.
There's some fun/creative damage control going on as well. I read a <s>nice</s> retarded story about hackers hijacking some of the downloads and forcing malicious programs in place of the firmware
They seem to be suggesting [When not suggesting the people with problems are from Microsoft] that the load on the Sony servers caused firmware downloads to finish without being complete... but surely it would run some sort of hash check on the file before running it? That's just common sense...

Yes, you would have to assume that any update system would make sure all the data was received before moving on. Rocket science it is not.
Worked okay for me too. Pain did about ten updates, then worked too.
Was planning to take it to Wales me next week, but a lot of the downloaded games, like GT5 prologue don't work when not connected to the PSN and everyone knows there isn't any internets in Wales.
