Well I've hardly given it a fair chance yet, but I found it pretty frustrating for the 10 mins I played. Couldn't figure out how to choose weapons when first joining properly, much less change kit before repawns. I barely saw any of the other team, and seemed to just fall over dead at random moments. I think I need to play with 5punkers.

I'd suggest starting a local server and having a run around to get the hang of it.

it's , to change class and . to change team, btw.

Yeah, that's probably the best idea. Cheers for the tips too. Might see if I can get time to have another blast tonight.

Expect to die lots too.

one or two bullets will usually kill you, so it's very much a game of sneaking and reflexes with just a splattering of tactically running like fuck and hoping to survive.

Yeah, I've got the hang of dying lots already. I think I read that they're using ricochets in the mod, so I expect slinger can already kill people around several corners in John Virgo stylee.

I don't like it. :(

It all looks very nice but it's one of these games that adds "realism" by crippling the player. Where's the fun in that? How about some positive sides of this "realism", rather than just making things harder. I don't know what these positives could be but I'm not the game developer.

By making stuff harder, they make it easier, It's not like it's only you who dies from one burst to the chest.

Fact is, if you get a good spot you can slaughter anyone who goes past. 60 points in a round is doable :)

Certainly, it's not gonna be to everyone's taste, but it's something new, interesting, and rather pretty

edit: oh, if anyone gets chance, jump on the 5punky server to get it started :)

Dying doesn't bother me and I didn't do much of it in the brief game I played. Mostly because didn't see many people even though there was plenty on the server. What I was complaining about was things like having to stand still to reload (the RPG does this, not sure about other weapons).

I guess I'm just not cut-out for these "realistic" games. I can't stand the operation flashpoints.

At least on public servers, I tend to prefer the "jump around while firing off 100 rounds and taking a rocket on the chin"-type games, simply because they're more fun. Realistic games mean you rarely get to see your attacker before it's too late, and therefore encourage tactics like sniping and hiding which while true-to-life, are overly effective and boring for everyone else.

Because it's a pragmatic tactic, we're not supposed to call it "camping" anymore, but that's what it is.

Luckily with 5punkers we tend to play any time of game in a more gung-ho fashion, and anyone standing around or hiding quickly gets told not to be a prick. I know it's not representational, and that in real life terrorists trapped in a building would not get much public sympathy by claiming the police were "spawn-raping" them, but it's better fun, win or lose.

With a group of us on I reckon we could have more fun, but with a bunch of random other people it quickly annoys me, just like every other game really.

Bollocks, most of my accidental TKs are from Noob tubes, which were thankfully recorded as suicides for the accidental victim.
