We need a map name

Post by Lee »

Gunslinger and I are trying our hand at map making. We're busy making a pretty simple map at the moment called dontplaywithfire. Basically theres 2 spawns with ladders leading up to the main room, that room is seperated by a wall with windows to shoot through and a door. If anyone decides to spawn camp theres 2 buttons, one which sets the T spawn on fire and one which sets the CT spawn on fire. Its very small but its pretty fun.

Anyway, the real reason i made this topic. Once we've finished this map we're going to try making something bigger but we need a name for it. We think it'd be easier if we had the name before we started the map but we dont have a clue what to call it. Anyone have any ideas? its going to be a bomb defusal and will be a serious map so it needs a serious name to go with it.

de_ignition
de_exit

Is there any setting for it? For example, if it was a bank map, de_bank. Something like that.

We just came up with this idea:

Briefing: Terrorists are attempting to destroy a factory supplying weapons to the army. Prevent them from planting the bomb.

We're going to try making some conveyor belts and erm... other stuff. We'll spend our lessons tommorow at school planning the map instead of working :)

I quite like de_ignition although it doesnt fit with a weapons factory.

But then again, I dont have a clue what a weapons factory would look like inside...

easy

google image search for:

munitions factory
munitions cache
weapon factory
weapon cache

and similar terms, you'll get a good idea of the contents of the buildings, if not the layouts.

also, it's best to start on paper, scribble stuff out. work out how the level will flow, how players will move.

I'm still eagerly waiting for someone to do a 5perm_bank map

Think of something similar to Office, but with lots of white washed walls with creamy stains in each room

hehe, maybe we'll try that after this. Didnt some one already make a bank map? maybe that could be adapted.

I'll try googling that stuff berk said when i get home, google image search is blocked at school. I tried weapons factory last night but it came up with crap.

I've had a few ideas about how we could do a weapons depot like Jinxx said but i think it might end up looking too much like compound.

I don't know if you guys have already seen this or not, but have a look at what Jinxx made :

Yeah, i've seen Jinxx's guide, it'll come in handy when designing our map. We've went and completely changed out idea now though, its now based on a farm and is a hostage rescue map. The terrorists want all the milk for themselves so they're holding the farmers hostage...

You can pretty much guarantee that they'd have more AI than the current hostages that need shepherding around.
