Infantry FTW, I dislike the way you're mostly powerless against vehicle whores unless you change your game to concentrate on taking them out - then it feels like they've won and taken an enjoyable aspect of the game away from you.
If I were a modder I would make all the tanks out of wet pink bog roll, and make helicopters randomly turn into chickens while you are flying them.

You could argue that it's the fault of the squad for not organising themselves. How easy is it for two AT chaps to twat the bejeesus out of a tank? Tanks are a slow moving and obvious target, the problem arises when people fail to play as a team, but such is the way of Beef.FatherJack wrote:Infantry FTW, I dislike the way you're mostly powerless against vehicle whores unless you change your game to concentrate on taking them out - then it feels like they've won and taken an enjoyable aspect of the game away from you.
As a 5punk group we regularly have more than one full squad, a few AT's, a medic, support and Spec Ops, plus anyone else that fills the second squad. With that lot playing as a team we could walk through most maps, I have watched other smaller squads do it from the commanders screen.
I agree, it's bloody annoying, but in this case I think EA are having to adapt to the players failings rather than their bad game design.

IO-mode would make maps like FuShe pass suck 3 metric tonnes of ass. A lot of the more wide open maps need vehicles or everyone would have to walk 10 miles to get anywhere. That would be boring as fuck. However, Waje Island would simply rawk on IO-mode. It would allow the USMC to get at least near the island. Having a full pitch infantry battle on wake should be a fucking blast.

If there are tanks about I 9/10 play anti-tank (mostly as I feel I would be the only one doing this, but on the 5punkers server it is heart warming to see my missiles running parallel to at least one other 5punker), or spec ops if I think i can't get close to them. There is nothing more annoying when we are being overrun by armour and everyone spawns as a sniper or something. A tank is horrible to be in with AT around.
Being very much a Jet whore, if anyone spots a piece of armour i'm on it like a fly to shit. :-) I know that doesn't hold for Karkand or Sharqi tho.
Coming back on topic, I don't mind if we play sans vehicles or not. What you might find is EA have taken the deicsion out of your hands. If they turn off the ranking system when vehicles are disabled then no public person will join your server. I've not seen anywhere saying it will be ranked infantry only, but then i've not really looked that hard.Useful info from my clan peeps wrote:A very rough guide to hit zones on the tanks.
Tanks have 20 hit points. Taking them down to 2 points will start them burning.
As you can see the front armour is strong.
The 6 point zones i sometimes get a 7 out of them.
The entire rear end seems to be 9 pointers (inc top side, e.g over engine)
the 9 zone around the base of turret is a bit hit and miss in my experience, if going for that its probably best to aim for the panel (next down from the 5/6 zone on turret) rather than the ring between body and turret.
it goes without saying that the tracks are the only way to get a clean 2 shot kill, tho at times it can be tricky to pop one on the tracks.
Safest bet is probably to rear end the thing and get it burning (back of turret is also 9`s).
All the gunk on top of turret is generally 4/5 with maybe a few dead zones and a few pointy bits.
The pic isn`t 100% accurate, but should be enough to give the general idea of what does what where.

How would they get to the island though? No boats, choppers or planes would mean swimming, and that would take ages..deject wrote:Waje Island would simply rawk on IO-mode. It would allow the USMC to get at least near the island. Having a full pitch infantry battle on wake should be a fucking blast.
