It's damn annoying. I really want to like EQ2 since GAME are losers and won't let me trade it in, but it's just so poo. So, i'm just gonna get WoW and fart in Sony's face. WTF is up with monthly fees? To pay for new content and shit? Isn't that why we have to pay for the game in the first place? Gah, i'm gonna go watch Pwned.

Basically, yes it is to pay for new content and shit. The initial fee to pay for the game wouldnt even nearly cover the costs for even keeping the thing going, let alone getting people to work constantly on it.JamieChalm wrote:WTF is up with monthly fees? Compare EVE to UT2004 for example. Average UT2004 server has, what, 10-20 people connected to it (supposing it was playing the one game). EVE regularly has upwards of 10000 people connected at once. That requires a hell of a lot more gear, and a hell of a lot more technical support. Plus, while UT2004 has fairly irregular updates to cover bugs and things, and almost never gets new content, it doesnt requre much of a development team after its been released. EVE is constantly having new things designed for it, and is regularly patched to fix bugs and deal with balencing issues. That means a full time job for designers and other geek types. These people need to be paid. That takes money. Money must come from somewhere. That means subscription fees.
When you consider how much more time people tend to spend playing an MMO compared to most other games, its really not that unreasonable.

Really, dont bother. Its crap crap crap. Imagine the most generic MMONG you can think of. Remove all possible traces of originality. Make the graphics dated. Then slap on some vague star wars references and blam, Galaxies is created.JamieChalm wrote:Galaxies does a trial version, you say? I'll be checking that out.
Put it this way: Unless you play it a hell of a lot (even by MMO standards) you are never, ever going to be a jedi. If your lucky, you may see one. If your lucky.
To add to joose's insulting of Galaxies, the references to star wars are almost non-existant. More often than not you acctually have to be seeking out something popular within the star wars universe to find it. Also, it has some retarded classes like dancers and image changers. I mean, what the fuck? Also, there are no 'Its a trap' references and when Rathen made a Calmarian named Itsa trap he was ridiculed, which is nothing new these days but annoying none the less
