1. The Shawshank Redemption
2. Aliens
3. 12 Angry Men (1957)
4. Spirited Away
5. It's a Wonderful Life
Apart from the top 2, which are certainly my favs, the others pretty much random films plucked from IMDb top 250 that I happen to like a lot.

Films of great awesomeness in no particular order off the top of my head:
1) Dr. Strangelove
2) 2001: A Space Odyssey
3) Seven Samurai
3) Hana-Bi (aka Fireworks)
4) The Seventh Seal
5) Eraserhead (actually, anything by David Lynch - yes! including Dune godammit!)
5.1) Memento
5.2) Requiem for a Dream
And some others

I secretly loved that film when I was a kid, but couldn't work out who the fuck Waldo (or whatever his name was) is as he was never once featured in the cartoon

You had to look really closely for him - he always wore a red and white striped top.

Seven Samurai = WIN, also Rashômon and Ikiru by the same director. Dune happens to be my favourite Lynch film.

Nah, they didn't suck. I like them, they just don't feature in my top 5. Top 50 probably.
