I have similarly varying favourites, but regular members of the list are:

1. The Big Lebowski
2. Godfather 1
3. Godfather 2
4. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
5. Casino

Since I'm moving house tmrw (woo yay!) I'm in the process of boxing things up now, and my videos, dvds and computer disks take up 5 large veg boxes! I'd say about 30 out of my 120 or so films are candidates for my favourite.

I've a few favourites, with none in particular taking the top spot:

1: Ghostbusters
2: Star Wars (IV, V or VI - take your pick)
3: Dawn of the Dead (1978 version)
4: The Thing (1978 version)
5: Happy Gilmore

Odd how two of those were released on the year I was born (Star Wars was 1977 I think). '78 sure was a good year for films.

Slight tangent, and a thread I was going to start the other day:

Worst films I've seen, based on my reaction to them:

1: The Thomas Crown Affair (new one that is) (turned off half way because I was feeling uncomfortable from all the pretentiousness)

2: Star Trek: Generations (fell asleep through most of it at the cinema - the first and only time)

3: Dungeons & Dragons (made me ashamed to be a geek)

4: XXX (Started watching it in the middle, had to turn it off after about 10 mins due to ridiculously over the top action scenes)

5: I'll have to have a think of a fifth, I'm normally not very critical of films and my boss has decided it's a good idea for me to work through the lunch break I have to take early because I'm working 1200-1300.

EDIT: Joose just pinged the fifth right there for me - Batman and Robin. From Tim Burton's vision of the Dark Knight to this pile of camp, cheesy guana. Thank god then for Batman Begins.

Im rubbish at "top 5's" due to the fact i can never really narrow it down to the five best, and even if i can do that, i cant get them into order. So heres five films i really like in no particular order:

Donnie Darko
2001: A Space Odyssey (rubbish storyline due to it being a bit of a failed experiment, but good lord is there some nice cinematography in there)
Being John Malkovich
Uncle Buck (ive got a softspot for 80's films, especially the comedies)
Apocalypse Now Redux (makes more sense than the original, and is possibly the best war film ever.)

As for worst fillms:

Final Fantasy the Spirits Within - only film i have ever been tempted to walk out of the cinema from. Not because it was particularly rubbish (although it was) but more because i was just really bored.

Dreamcatcher - so silly, so silly. "Lets make the one character with a speech impediment say the bad guys name, and then lets make the badguy be called Mr Grey! Everyone will be thinking hes saying mystery! it'll be great!" "no, they will be wondering why the badguy is called Mr faaabulous". However, it could be argued to be one of those "so bad its good" films. Also, my sister thought of a much better name for the film. Arse-worms From Space!

The Avengers - do i need to explain?

Batman and Robin - Good christ no, make it stop. Please.

Dungeons and Dragons - for non D&D players its just a rubbish fantasy film. To D&D players its a fucking abomination.

Lost in Space - I was forced to watch this, due to it being an in flight movie. Maybe it was intended to distract us from the food.

No seriously, unbelievable, I didn't enjoy anything about the film*, Spiderman 2 was better, but not by much.

Toby Mcguire - Terrible acting, not entirely his fault though, could be the..
Script - OMFG, even George Lucas must be laughing at this one.
