Black! Black! You lock me in the cellar and feed me pins!

Anyone considering getting the new "gun porn" game Black? It looks like fun but I don't know whether I can sacrifice PC game time to spend playing on a console.

Let us know what you think once you've had a go of it and what it's like compared to PC FPSs

Actually it's was exactly about HL2 on Xbox :)

FPSs on consoles are valid games but they need to be special to drag me away from the current greats on PCs like BF2.

I'll probably pick it up on the way home, and play it through while waiting for BF2 to load/crash.

Ooooh, another FPS with lots of guns and explosions!

:bored:

I wish for once they'd do something a little bit different in FPSs. Every one that comes out at the moment seems to be an identikit game. Quake 4 was boring as an Amish party, and CoD2 single player has left me bitterly disappointed.

I demand originality in my shooters!

The whole point of Black is that it's going back to basics. They did it with Burnout for arcade racers and they've had a go with an fps. Deep it may not be, but there's some fantastic ideas in it.

Like what though? Nothing in that review suggests that there is anything remarkably different from any other fps. Fancy graphics, clever AI, destructable scenery - although they may put a slightly different spin upon the ways it's executed, it's still all been done before.

I'm not saying it won't be enjoyable to play (I'm sure it's immense fun the first time round), but I do think it will be just another shiny addition to the already over-burdened fps market. Half-Life 2, CoD 2, FEAR, Quake 4 - all good games, but sod all different about them.

I don't know, maybe I'm just bored of fps games.

Yes it sounds like you are, play Psychonauts and come back to see us when you are feeling less cynical. ;)

Arf!

I rented Black a couple of weeks ago. It looks beautiful and it is, over all, quite good. It's a bit like Time Crisis after a while though.
