I have an XP farm setup in my base if anyone fancies using it. It's at -110 x +4 and there's instructions above the switch on the wall. It'll take around 10 minutes to generate 30 levels I think, which is stored in the brains in jars you can access from the room with the switch. There's an enchanting table, anvil and books nearby.

Don't leave it switched on.
Don't go inside the spawning chamber if you can't fly out.
Don't left click the brains in jars as that will break them, use right click only.

Also yesterday I noticed ender tanks (for liquid rather than items) are now in the Direwolf mod pack and it's helped me simplify my lava collection system. Previously was using a machine to fill and empty buckets of lava, which were transported via ender chests.

It went from this:

To this:

This most complex thing in this is the wireless on/off switch for the remote pump, which is somewhere underground.

If you're interested here's what the pump end used to look like. Now it's just a pump powered by redstone engines, ender tank, chunk loader and wireless receiver. :whew:

Is there a setting on the server to allow/deny flying? I've been kicked a couple of times using mods that enable flying, power armour today, and it's a bit silly getting kicked for it. It says "Flying is not allowed on this server".

Yep, fixed. Weird, as it was allowing flight via jetpacks just fine. Must work in a different way somehow.

Thanks, it's fine now. Yeah, I'm rarely without a IC2 jetpack and no problems. Like you said, it must work differently. I'm sure I've used another mod sometime that had the same problem.

Xycraft mod now has some better uses. Including some nice glass with the addition of iron:

I need to get back into MC, not been on in a while. When I left it I was still attempting matter creation using solars and some other stuff, which is working mostly but I need to start mining somewhere else.

Ive just had an AMAZIN transportation idea.

Linking books in Mystcraft link you to the exact place they were made, but can only be used from another Age. I have now found an Age which, whilst horribly unstable on the surface (translation: going outside will kill you to death) has a massive cave system that im setting up a mining op in (Imagine Nether-style caves).

I could set up a transport hub in Caveworld.

We could have linking books in our bases in the real world that all link to one room in the Caveworld. In that Caveworld room we have linking books to all of our bases. Its basically like nether gates only there is no limitations on where we put the entrances/exits.

I'll set something up and then put up instructions on how to add your area to the network.

A transport hub sounds like a great idea.

I'm in a bit of a sulk with Minecraft at the moment as I managed to blow up my latest quarry, even though it wasn't supposed to be possible with the tech I was using. Umpf!

I need to learn how to actually do anything in the new MC world. All I know is that it won't let me power my quarries with a shitload of redstone engines anymore :(

It makes you get hungry super fast and makes the view go all squiffy like you are extremely drunk. This combined with roaming sparky death creatures makes for quite a short lifespan. Its not anywhere near as bad as some of the worlds ive made (nothing is exploding, for example) but its still pretty bad.

Magma engines and lava super-pipelines worked for me.

The random death world thing has inspired me. Not quite sure what for yet, but there's something there.

Would a brief how-to for Mystcraft be of interest to anyone? I've just about got the hang of it now, and the guides that exist elsewhere tend to be referring to the old and massively different Mystcraft. Its quite fun, if super-dangerous.

I think the super-dangerous part is enough to put me off. Creepers are still my most common form of death. However, I think I'd enjoy reading it.

Anyone want to make a roguelike based on visiting death worlds and finding stuff that might save you from dying in further death worlds? Or magically inject the knowledge into my brain on how to do it myself?

you should try this http://redrogue.net/ once you figure out how the overworld works it has a very similar concept to that, plus its generally a very fun rogue-like with lots of bits and bobs to discover and muck about with for hilarity, its more than likely you will accidentally kill yourself with your own hat at some point early on while messing about with the magic system
