Fixed!

Well, I say fixed. I turned it back on. It had turned off. No mention in the logs as to why.

Right, well this hosting has been a bit up and down lately so I have had a look around at alternatives. I think ive found one that would be better, cheaper and offers more things, so I am preparing to jump ship. The question is: do people want to keep the same world or start a fresh one? I should be able to transfer the world across without any problems so its really just a question of what people would prefer. Up for a new world?

If you do decide to start fresh you might want to switch to the Feed The Beast mod pack. It's supported by the mod makers themselves, unlike the Technic Pack and seems very nice.

A word of warning: The default FTB pack doesn't contain RedPower or Equivalent Exchange, yet. They are in Direwolf's custom FTB pack, which is easy to use for single player, not sure how easy to setup on the server. The new Equivalent Exchange is very different anyway.

I've spent some time on singleplayer and all the new devices and machines are insane. As is the new Thaumcraft 3 magical mod.

Yeah, theres a few options for what exactly we would use in the modpacks. I'll have a play around and see whats what.

Ive got to admit, I feel a bit like I'm done with Tekkit. Mixing it up a bit seems like a good idea.

Can I has copy of the world before it dies, pls? - I built a few things with my nephew in it.

In cooperation with him, not using him as a building material.

A single-player version of Orhedge (if anyone still has that) would be nice, too. Anyone have a copy of it before we went crazy with Tekkit, or is that how it sits now?

I should still have a pre-tekkit Orhedge map. I deliberately took one in case it fucked up and planned to carry on in SP creative mode.

Can I get a copy too mrjoose? I built the perfect diamond generator and wouldn't want it to fall into the wrong hands. Also tap me up for a contribution to the new server expenses.

Grimmie, could new minecraft and new mod pack make a good let's play?

Ive stuck the backup of the current 5punkworld here.

Im still banging my head against the different mods available for FTB. The Direwolf one looks good apart from the Mystcraft stuff; it looks interesting but apparently can bum multiplayer servers in a bad way. I'll keep pondering.

WOO! NEWSERVERGOTIEM!

Everything is set up and appears to be working. I settled on Direwolf in the end as there were many conflicting arguments as to what causes lag and what doesn't. I think if we find that some mod introduces a lot of lag we will just not use stuff from that mod.

One thing to note (which I think I mentioned before): This pack nerfs the shit out of EE. To the point that it practically disappears. It keeps the idea of using magic to turn one thing into a different thing, but its harder to do that and it has entirely dropped the overpowered stuff like magic rings, bonkers armour, redmatter tools and, most significantly, the condensers and whatnot that allowed you to generate infinite stuff from nothing. I think this will end up as a good thing, as it will horse us to use the other mods more. We wont just be able to go "fuck it, transmute a millions diamonds please".

World is created and ready to go. Come join me! The server is at nl-21.fragnet.net:27065. To get in you need Feed the Beast (which you can get from here) and within the launcher you need to select the Direwolf20 modpack. Its all pretty straightforward. There's a FtB wiki here for finding things to build and how to build them. Get to it! :excited:

Woo! I'm in and I've already claimed an abandoned village as my own. I'm happy to share though. It's about 100m from spawn too. My ready made house came complete with chest, bed, crafting bench, furnace and lookout tower. There's a farm just over yonder as well.

I'll get cracking as soon as I'm home from work. It's a normal map? not a challenge map?
