Awesome.
Re: Two Minutes Hate
Thought I'd resurrect this thread for Keith Vaz, just because he is a cupcake.*
*That's not slander, I read it on Wikipedia so by the rules of British journalism it must be true.

Tom Watson is rather good. I like how he basically nullifed Vaz's bill with one ammendment.

Re: Two Minutes Hate
The Daily Mail is beyond parody
I love how:
1) They show a picture of a child playing GTA, an 18 rated game
2) The article concludes "They found no connection between the players behaviour and game playing"

Hah, look at the comments, in a slightly unusual twist, the majority of DM readers are saying that it's bollocksRoman Totale wrote:The Daily Mail is beyond parody

Re: Two Minutes Hate
Also that the headline completely contradicts the article. Nothing like ignoring the facts for your own agenda to put the media in a good light.

As soon as I read it I filled out the form on the PCC site
Re: Two Minutes Hate
I expect most commenters aren't readers, but have been linked from various gaming sites. They've probably got well used accounts though.buzzmong wrote:Hah, look at the comments, in a slightly unusual twist, the majority of DM readers are saying that it's bollocksRoman Totale wrote:The Daily Mail is beyond parody

Re: Two Minutes Hate
I just came across something interesting. A quote which I think applies pretty well to the type of journalism I started this thread for;
Anyone care to guess which famous author wrote that?Propaganda must not investigate the truth objectively and, in so far as it is favorable to the other side, present it according to the theoretical rules of justice; ... it must present only that aspect of the truth which is favorable to its own side ...The receptive powers of the masses are very restricted, and their understanding is feeble.

Re: Two Minutes Hate
My initial thought was Karl Marx, because I saw him in a magazine this week. Then I actually read it and thought, hang on...

To be fair, Hitler is my standard answer.
Re: Two Minutes Hate
On the subject of papers and quotes:
Same person:I am personally acquainted with hundreds of journalists, and the opinion of the majority of them would not be worth tuppence in private, but when they speak in print it is the newspaper that is talking (the pygmy scribe is not visible) and then their utterances shake the community like the thunders of prophecy.
Which certainly sounds like our beloved Daily FailSpeaking in general terms it was always easy to get any print to say any injurious thing about a citizen in a newspaper, but it was next to impossible to get that paper or any other to right an injured man
Re: Two Minutes Hate
I once tested a similar theory by writing an essay for Mrs Pants's A level English (don't worry, she never finished it). She chose the Gulf war as a subject, so assuming the lecturer would be left-leaning I wrote the most biased account I could, full of conspiracy theory and opinions, and deliberately ignoring any counter argument. When the marked copy came back he had commented that he agreed entirely, although in fairness to him he did suggest she put a few counter arguments in.

Re: Two Minutes Hate
We had to write (deliberately) a very biased account of something as an assignment in O level English, um.. I mean GCSE. It was quite fun. Perhaps that is the level from which journalists are plucked.
Re: Two Minutes Hate
This one isn't actually the Mail at fault for once, but it shows the calibre of their readership;

Have I missed something in BF3?A beginner can get lucky by throwing a knife across the map and getting a kill but I highly doubt any beginner can pull off this move
Also the top rated comment made me chuckle:
Went outside once. Graphics were awesome, but the gameplay was rubbish
