I experimented a bit with a furnace and found the following works:

1. Get a lit furnace spawned. Admin command: give <player> 62
2. Get all you want to smelt in your inventory and plenty of coal/wood.
3. Place furnace somewhere secret so no one can access it while you're working.
4. Smelt and don't close the furnace interface.
5. Look at a boring screen for however long it takes.

Also I've tried 3D mode with glasses and it mostly works. 5 minutes later my eyes have almost recovered from the 2 minutes I spent uses the glasses.

Spoodie is an op now, he can spawn stuff for you if I'm not on.

Server has started to stuggle a bit this evening, not quite sure why, possibly java bugs.

Given it the latest update and a restart.

Ah, nearly the weekend again. I've quite deliberately stayed away all week.

Given the lack of screenshots/videos though, it does sound as though you need some major engineering projects. Demarcated start areas, impossible towers with writing on, sea bridges, floating Willies! and unpossibly long tunnels. That sort of thing.

We have all of those

also, I *REALLY* badly miscalculated the blast radius on something I'd made, now I have to try to defuse it somehow

I built an (at the time) impressive wall in front of my tower, I was happy. Friz and Berk got involved and we then built three more walls. It is now a ridiculously large castle with 4 big walls at different heights. Quite 5punky narf!

5punky narf. :? 5parf....5puff? Giant Castle Mc5puff.

Yes, no time for videos too busy building and getting lost in wabbit's giant hole. It's cavernous, I tell you!

If you go through the castle and follow the path in the same kind of direction for a while you will reach my waterfall efforts. Make sure you follow the path right to the end after you reach the waters edge though :)

Whoever made the flying boat; I made it more authentic ... sort of.

/edit
I've now heard no less than 3 Minecraft songs.
This is probably the best of them, partly due to the awesome pic used in the video:

Just noticed a bug, if you drop a tool then pick it up again it will return to 100% dura. Only tested the once just now with iron pickaxe, but if it works across the board should save the OPs some leg work dishing out diamond tools.

Now I think about it, sure I heard someone say "don't let it break this time", so maybe you know all about this already :P

Created a sticky thread for tips and info, plus a Minecraft post icon. If anyone can sort out a usable gif from the isometric favicon that would be nicer and appreciated.

Suggest tips/info to be added, here or in the stickied thread.

Thinking of maps: http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?p=42105

Something for server admins to keep an eye on, would be very useful once we spread out even farther. Looks purty too.

I imagine spreading out will be a bit less likely once survival has mobs, will be far better off working together and pooling resources, at least for a start.

I abused my admin powers and made The Fortress of Gayitude. It's across the water from the spawn. I need to put a bridge in.

Code: Select all

Minecraft Server 0.1.3 (not the inventory yet!)

* Fixed save-off
* Ops can now build in the spawn area
* Added /tell command for players to whisper something to another player
* The server logs what admin does what, and broadcasts any admin events to all connected ops
* /list will show a list of connected players to the op who issued it

It's getting there.

I read Notch's blog entry about chests and spent some time thinking about it. I can't imagine how he's going to get it to work but it'll be interesting seeing how he does.
