I’m working on name verification, a flag to start servers in offline/insecure mode, and banning support at the moment, and will probably release it today. It will require a client, server AND launcher update. :-O
Tomorrow, I will do a seecret friday update. Ooooh! I wonder what it could be? Perhaps hamsters? Perhaps turnips? Who knows!?
Server-side inventory is coming next week, including shared chests and so, and this is also when I will fix some of the bugs in SMP, like the ladder thing and the looking through walls bug.
As it is at the moment, unless you know where things are, the server looks mostly unused apart from the offshore building and the odd sky tower. A simple road/tunnel system could be built and improved by anyone, especially if they're stuck for something to do.

The server software hasn't been updated yet, so no. And there's no specific mention of it in the update for today. We'll have to test it. Like the inventory and chests it's something that needs to be shifted from client-side to server-side so it could be included with next weeks update that Berk has quoted.
If you walk from spawn in a straight line past Rabbit's tower until you see a sky tower, you should be able to see another one on the horizon (if on massive view distance), walk to that one, then to the tower you can see from there and you will find my playings with water.
I'll see if I can be arsed to pave the way there at some point
There should be a quicker way there but I've only gone there about 3 times, the first of which I was just rambling until I found a waterfall anyway
Also, inside RabbitTower I appear to have somehow invented the never-going-out furnace, there's a furnace which still has the lit graphic even though it's empty and works if you put fuel and stuff in. If anyone needs a furnace when Berk's not on feel free to use it

Whilst I think I know what you actually mean, I first read that how rabbit read it. Protip: If people don't know what you mean, or misunderstand, explaining further is usually more helpful
