Yeah, I'm thinking he should cut out the whole 'monsters spawn in any kind of darkness thing' in the final version, as it's somewhat annoying that you can't mine in peace. It should just be mine by day, defend your fortress by night.

I dunno, I like that when you find a cave you have to go and scout it out with torches. It's just that their arrows kill you so fast that you can only really take one out in melee, more than that and you're dead. However, if you can get better armour and a bow of your own (which you can) I expect they're a lot easier.

I've been playing with fire today. Load up a forest map, get a flint and steel, set fire to a tree, and voila!

Erm, not so great with a wooden house though...

Minecraft funnies, who'd have thunk it? Disclaimer: Taken from their forums, you might not get it if you've not played survivor/indev.

Split from Minecraft, because the creative mode and survival mode are so different. I think I've finally got the hang of Indev. I've been playing the same game all day and only come close to dying a couple of times, and I've a big stone tower with lights and windows, with an underground complex to make a dwarf proud. I also have a small farm and an experimental underground arboreum.

I was playing a fairly good game this morning, I had a steady supply of iron, coal, and I finally found some gold. Then I hit upon some water and my entire underground cave complex flooded. I couldn't find my way out again as I marked my way with torches, which obviously all got extinguished due to the flood. so I was trapped, deep underground, with all my pickaxes broken and my way back flooded. And it was at this moment that I found a diamond block. :x

Hahaha, that's a bastard. You know you can save to file? The online save thing only works for survival, but the file one works fine.

I just found a lava chamber with a pair of sheep in, bizarrely. So I pushed one in.

Saving doesn't work for me. No file is created at C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\saves

It's quite annoying because I want to play but I'm so impatient and incautious that I always die during the first night.

I changed the save location to my desktop, and it creates a file called filename.mclevel. Don't know if it's the location.

Oh yes, of course. There's a "Save file..." and "Load file...". Duh!

Multiplayer has hit a few snags and is a little way off yet, but you can now craft and place signs (Willies!), and furniture and doors are on their way.

I was playing it on sunday and doors and ladders have been put in (infdev). Still no caves though, oddly.

turns out those minecarts have been put into infdev they just cant be opened, i dunno if that just means you cant put stuff in them or you cant get in them yet, but he posted it as ridable minecarts that cant open so i assume you can get in them

looking at videos of the minecarts in looks like you can do both at the moment, so i have no idea what opening is for
