But they will all be in bed at that time.Anery wrote:I happened to be in Game yesterday and got chatting to one of the drones about MW:2. They are opening up at midnight so people can get their mitts on the game straight away, when I laughed and said that surely nobody would turn up he said that they had hundreds of preorders, mostly x-box.

I agree with all of that, but it still doesn't explain what they've done. (the complete removal of dedicated servers etc)FatherJack wrote:Actually though, I don't think the market they are aiming for (teenage boy with a PC) is as small as we might think, indeed I suspect it is huge. Parents are often more happy to buy their youngsters PCs than game consoles as there is the hope that they will be used for more than just games and by more of the family.
I've been out to fix a few "family" PCs that have been used for games - they've bought them off-the-shelf and said their son wanted to play games on it and treat them much like games console. They're not fantastically overpowered, but do the job well enough. I could probably build them for the price of a games console.

That's a matter of opinion. I didn't like COD4's single player.Killavodka wrote:the gameplay is much the same as MW (which is not a bad thing)
You've not qualified that with anything. Which platform were you playing it one? How many players were there? Were you the host?Killavodka wrote:Also had a quick go on the multiplayer which was neither laggy nor crap contrary to bullshit you might hear.
Please don't call our speculations bollocks. For the most part I think they've been reasonable and far less reactionary than most of the wailing and gnashing of teeth heard on the internet at large. I'd be interested to hear the opinion of one of the game's critics.Killavodka wrote:Didn't want to write a full review as I haven't really played enough but I did want to dispel some of the speculation bollocks I have heard in several places (including here)

Is that on a console or on the PC?
And for the most part it was less reactionary, but speculation nevertheless, also I wasn't specifically targeting 5punk so stop being so defensive doggersDog Pants wrote:

Only really tested this out for one round just to see how this new none-dedicated server system worked, plus a quick look at what they had changed, hence why the sentence was brief. I'll be testing this further once I have finished the SP campaign.I wrote:

It sounds like the only good thing about COD4 MP they kept is the fun gunplay. Everything else about it seems to be not as good.Dr. kitteny berk wrote:Amusing things I've heard so far, completely ignoring all the OMG IT RULEZ!!1 and OMG IT SUX!!1 posts.
Often requires port forwarding for MP to work
Lag (as expected) can be a non issue, or a massive problem (obviously, people on shite ISPs can and will host games)
9v9 is only for groundwar mode, 6v6 for the others.
No team balance.
No spectate.
