Apple sued over MagSafe risks
A suit has been brought against Apple in the US over claims that its MagSafe power adaptor is badly designed - and can even constitute a fire risk to its users.

Perhaps if it was yanked out particularly hard and enough times by tripping it would fray. It sounds similar to people blame Nintendo for TVs with Wiimotes embedded in the screens.

It's more likely general use flexing it back and forth that causes the problem, rather than the occasional pulling out by people tripping over it.
