My feelings will not be hurt if I am not playing. It does sound fun but if it is going to kick off before this weekend, I better not play. I am kinda busy thurs and friday then off to Paris Saturday for about 3 days without internets. Would hate to ruin the start of it all if so...
So if it is starting next week sometime... cool, if not I will step out of the way

Same, I'm already doing both SLA and Shadowrun, so it's no big deal if other people fill the spots.punkchuck wrote:My feelings will not be hurt if I am not playing. Character sheets are made, and filled with characters. I'm going to let players choose their own skills, but most other stuff is either randomly generated or chosen by me to make a little interesting party interaction. I'm currently hopping between reading the rules and background, and writing the first mission, which already has me chuckling to myself. Not in an evil way though. Honest. Once I'm a bit more au fait with things I'll let people pick their character and do their fiddling with it.
I've just been playing around with a JParanoia server and a couple of clients. I hadn't realised I was live, so I was a little surprised when a helpful German chap came online and asked me what I was doing.
Turns out JParanoia is a chat client designed for the game, which allows the GM to talk to the players as himself, NPCs, The Computer, or even pretend to be the players. It looks like it can do other stuff too, but I didn't want to play with it while my server was being shown as live on Paranoia-Live.net.
Might open up an interesting avenue for the game.

Why is that strangely balanced? I think it pretty much reflects today's world.Grimmie wrote:really strangely balanced guy (10 cha, 10 str, 1 int)

I'd vouch for using this with teamspeak for side-talks for a Paranoia-evening thing, but that's impossible because of the sprogs now isn't it?
I think I'll skip JParanoia for now. It's hard enough getting to grips with a new system without having to learn to use some software with it. Also, running anything live, as we found out on Skype, is a nightmare compared to the relaxed pace of forum games. Bali's right though, using it with TS/Skype would be very handy (once we knew how to use it).
As for who's playing or not, that's still mostly undecided. I've written some of the mission (although I'm considering runing the one in the book first if nobody's read it - and they shouldn't have) and some of the characters, but I've read none of the rules (not that they matter much) and not enough of the content. It'll be a little while before I'm ready to run, but when I am I'll put a post up asking people to choose characters. Hopefully we'll work it out so that those people are the ones most interested.

As soon as I've got something to run for you. I had a productive night last night and got a fair bit of reading done. I now know some rules I can ignore. If I have an equally productive day I might have something by tonight, but more likely it'll be sometime during the weekend. Watch this space for character selection. Oh, and the Wiki might have some useful information on it now/soon.

So who's actually signed up for this?
Roman, Bubbles, Anery, Anham, Deject and Grimmie is it?

Umm, dunno. I was hoping all would become clear when I asked people to choose characters. If there's more people wanting to play than I can run (and it looks like there are), then I can run it on a rolling basis - once all your clones are dead the next person on the list gets to play. Like rolling subs or winner-stays-on pool. People don't tend to survive ages in Paranoia, although I'm running it classic (slapstick, silly deaths, but survivable) rather than zap (cartoon violence, possible to have all six clones killed before you've even found the briefing room) style.
