My Lvl 10 Necro can cut swathes through a couple of lower level NPCs fairly easily, but fighting more than one same level mob at once tends to kill me hard.
The Pets thing is an issue too. I always have two ghoul things summoned at once. While they do damage the enemies, they don't normally keep aggro at all. Not like my WoW hunter pet used to. If you cast your 'Frenzy' spell on them, they keep the NPC's attention, but not for long.
Also a problem I thought I'd solved has come back since the last patch. While I initially said it sounded like everything was underwater, I've pinpointed this to being massively excessive reverb. Everything from walking, to ambience to groaning in fights sounds horrible. Anyone had similar issues? I've tried everything I can think of.

Aye, I did, even went as far as fettling with the prefs_2.xml file that I found lurking. Initially, changing these options worked well.Dr. kitteny berk wrote:
did you think of disabling every possible EAX (or similar) option you could find?
Code: Select all
Value name=TweakCategoryEnabled value=false
TweakReverbCombatMusic value=1.000000
TweakReverbCombatSfx value=1.000000
TweakReverbCutsceneMusic value=1.000000
TweakReverbEnvMusic value=1.000000
[Edit]
To clarify, all these values were displayed slightly differently in the prefs_2.xml file, but I had to change them to show here.
How do I setup a macro to do this in AoC?

Right, guild city 'Cocktropolis' or 'Far Canal' or whatever we'll call it.
As an architect I need to learn planz for building different parts/types of buildings.
As resource gatherer you collect different types of stuff, the usual skin/wood/rock/metal from the landscape and silk/gems/other stuff from kills (although there is a few cotton bushes to be found) lots of stuff becomes less better stuff, the usual.
To build our big faaabulous hovel a frankly staggering amount of stuff needs collecting. 10 bits of wood = 1 joist, a small house needs quite a few of those. 10 sandstone = 1 brick, few of those needed too! Every building that gets built has a purpose too, we can have armour/weapon smiths, gem cutters, farms, guard posts etc etc.
It sounds win but if 5punkers only play this for a bit and drop it then this dream of our own place will never happen. It'll take a while before this bastion of bumming arises from the soil, our kingdom of kittens. We few can make this dream a reality if we bend our backs in honest online toil. Or if we just happen to wander past some random resource point with the necessary skill to strip it bare.
Cocktropolis* will arise! We will have a battlekeep!
*Insert name here (tee hee)
In game, level 20 sees you capable of learning to gather, level 40 of constructing stuff. You need to travel to poitain/purple lotus swamp to talk to trainers, then there is designated gathering areas that hold a higher amount of resource points lacheish plains/wilds of zelata are two.
There appears no limit on how many gathering/constructing skills you pick up, but only 1 or 2 can be progressed to the higher stages.
The resource points are a little sparse imo, and camped heavily by people who are looking to get the first guild city built. Front runners on dagon appear to be 'weyland yutani' and 'legion' because they have a metric shit ton of members each.

I'm definitely up for this latest 5punky enterprise, and will endeavour to invest some time learning this game over the weekend. Our Tower of 5punk may be a little way off yet, but it's a good thing to work towards.
Is there an equivalent to a Super Group in AoC then - a clan (for want of a better word) which we're all permanent members of while going off and joining random teams for missions, meaning that our city is accessible to only us?

I've not read very much about this city building other than 'you can build a village then go rape, pillage and burn someone elses'. Presumably the raping, pillaging and burning stuff will be a bit harder to achieve on a PvE server? It sounds like an interesting idea but I'd like to see where it goes - sprawling metropolis all over the map with no room for small, new clans/guilds to play or too much effort, cba unless you're an anal carebear resource gathering freakazoid?
I agree that a Waugh Arms in someone else's sprawling metropolis is a more achievable objective, so maybe we need to sweet-talk one of these massive guilds who are underway already. Since I've not made it out of Tortage yet I'm interested to see how these towns will work on the maps, and am also curious as to how they work in terms of attacking/defending on a PvE server.
