If you touch your software enough does it become hardware?

Is that the new thing on windows update? It just a thing that checks to see if youre using a legal copy of windows.

I just tested it. It seems you have to install genuine advantage whatever but you disable it each time you want to update by entering the javascript line into the URL.

Sorry to pop your bubble, but the internet can't hide from Microsoft, and the exploit has now been fixed: http://microsoft.weblogsinc.com/entry/1234000533052770

Not that any of you guys need to worry...right?

Ooo!!! I've got a present for you guys: http://news.zdnet.com/Another+way+past+ ... &subj=zdnn
According to the Thursday posting, all a PC user apparently has to do to have GenuineCheck.exe generate a valid code on a machine with pirated Windows XP is to run it in Windows 2000 compatibility mode. This is done by downloading the tool, right-clicking on the file and selecting "properties." Then select the "compatibility" tab in the menu and change the compatibility mode.

If the method actually works, it may be short-lived. "Microsoft will be updating the validation system from time to time and plans to address these issues," the Microsoft representative said.
