It was kind of annoying when the enemy were right on the spawn point.

maybe a death limit of 7 or something?

I don't wanna make it too high, else people will just run in like retards and have a shit game comprised mainly of waiting 20 seconds

It was fine on five. Just send the spawn campers the fuck into space with rifle grenades. That's what I do.

I'd be happy with ONE life, though, really. Mainly because I like the tension and also actually like spectating. Try it. It's like watching a movie or something

I've always had mixed feelings about game modes that reward the "better" players with increased play time, not least because my usual strategy is to charge in and distract the enemy by dying lots trying to take out one or two as I do so.

I can understand that trying to defend a postion against people that respawn forever is tiresome, but it's perhaps preferable to the CS syndrome where two mostly-dead teams have to sit out the round and watch two players studiously avoid killing each other.

Fundamentally it's the less cautious die-a-lot players who probably need the most practice, but on the rare occasions where I am the only representative of my team still alive, I'm acutely aware of all the other players sitting around being bored and try to end it quickly and spectacularly so we can all play again.

Death limit is fine, in fact, reduce it to 3 so people will be a fucklot more tactical.

Won't work.

No matter how smart people are, they're dumb shits in cod.

A limit of 3 doesn't give them enough time to realise they're doing it wrong and change tactics.

Plus in hardcore it's far too easy to die even when your not being stupid, catching a stray bullet is rather easy.

Although when we played this t'other night it was fucking annoying to get spawn raped constantly, I don't mind running away from a spawn to get shot, but when I can't even move because someone is waiting behind me it gets a bit pointless. Pus the fancy hdr crap means that defending point A is rather hard on vacant, you can't really see outside, but attackers can see in fine so you get shot in the face.

Also, I'm not keen on sabotage on overgrown (long dry river map) I think it needs to be on something more compact with lots of cover.

Lessons learned:

People don't like FFA on Countdown (apart from me). Is there any map we do like it for, or is FFA just a no go?
One life on sabotage (or was it S&D?) made me want to kill myself. So I did, by shooting Tezz.

Any suggestions?

FFA is shit on countdown, may be workable on other maps (or not on hardcore)

My way of thinking is that it's a fairly circular map with even cover. It'd be a nightmare on Cargo Ship.

I haven't liked the FFA mode since like 2000. It really only works with smaller numbers of players or map gigantic enough that you're not running into 4 people in 3 seconds. Now a TDM but with more than two teams would rock. A 4-way TDM would rock.

I'll download them and see how much effort I'd need to put into this.

Well you can use cubes to make a map but quite frankly I wouldn't want to play it. I believe a good map is at least 24 hours worth of SDKing.

I wouldn't make my own maps, just tweak the game rules for multiple teams.

Time for a new map cycle?

Personally, I'd like to try HQ on pipeline.
