We all love/hate different maps for different reasons, bog sometimes sucks, as does bloc and countdown. If you get a busy server then strike and city streets starts to get annoying with the instadeath. The mind fuck that is shipment is fun, but do it too much it isn't. I get bored playing the one in the rain, vacant I think, but it's a good map for objective games. I guess what I'm rambling toward is that no one map takes too long.

I'll vote yay for amblins lineup.

I'd lean more towards Baliame's at the moment. We only usually play four or five rounds, and so we'd only get one non-TDM round in using Amblin's. I'm not sure I'm going to enjoy the modes where you have to wait to respawn - I get enough of that from TEEF - but I haven't played them all so I won't pass judgement yet.

From what I've seen Sabotage works well on Crash, and I reckon it might work well on Pipeline or downpour (farm on the maplist I think). I've played S&D a few times and only enjoyed it on Countdown because it was usually over pretty quickly. Headquarters always worked quite well in Bloc, but I found vacant too open, and I prefer vacant to be TDM. I haven't played Domination.

Lots of people posted while I wrote that. Maps, as I remember them:

Cargoship
The ship, with cargo on it.

Crash/Winter Crash
The one with the crashed Chinook in the middle.

Vacant
The indoor office one.

Pipeline
The one with the two big sheds and the train on one side.

Convoy
The one with the road through the middle with the burning tanks and humvees on.

Countdown
The one with all the rockets and smoke.

Overgrown
The one with the dry river through the middle where you can ninja climb on the bridge.

Bloc
The one with the two tower blocks opposite each other.

Farm
The rainey one with the tractor shed in the middle and the little hole in the wall behind the big silos.

Not sure about the middle eastern city ones, I can never remember which one's which.

They are quite similar, although the Chinook is capable of carrying light vehicles, infantry and lots of kit where as the Sea Knight is more suited to just shifting infantry and their gear.

What I don't like about Amblin's lineup is that it doesn't seem quite thought over, it's just 1-1 map inserted randomly for each gamemode to satisfy those who don't like TDM.

We can set time limits per mode, so we could make FFA last 10 minutes.

Okay, lessons learned from last night:

Crash is too small for Sabotage - people were dying as soon as they got set up the bomb. I still like the mode though, maybe on Overgrown for a larger map, or Cargo Ship for being able to push the enemy back to their point.

S&D on Countdown took a bit too long. With randoms you're always going to get idiots who are the last person on the offensive team, who just sit there camping. With just 5punkers it might have been better. Maybe a smaller map would have worked, like Crash or Bog.

I think Domination worked quite well on Pipeline.
