Discussion Board

Introduction

We made a b3ta-style threaded board to keep the random banter off the main message board.

What can I post there?

Anything you like really. Just chat mindlessly, post pictures you've done or links to interesting things, etc. We'd ask you to keep things Safe For Work though- many users browse the forums at work.

BBCode, HTML and Smilies can be used here, just as they can on the Main board if they are enabled.

Post options

Every post you make on this board has a number of options.

HTML: Enable or disable the use of HTML in your post.
BBCode: Enable or disable the use of BBCode in your post.
Smilies: Enable or disable the use of Smilies in your post.
Hidden: Enable or disable the visability of your post and its replies to guest viewers.

However, some options may not be available to you if:

   * You have disabled them in your profile,
   * An Administrator has disabled them for the Discussion Board
   * or An Administrator has disabled them for the whole forum.

It is also worth noting that any replies to a Hidden post will be hidden too.

Bookmarking and linking posts

Every post has a permalink icon to the left of each username. You can bookmark the link or send it to someone and they will be able to see what you're pointing at. It's rude to point though.

Swearing

We love swearing- it makes us feel big and clever. If you're neither, you can use our special code. It looks like this: ~!~ Use it wisely.

Highlights

If you would like to make it extra easy to see where all the new posts are, we have two kinds of Post Highlighting in Board Options.

The first kind marks all the messages that were posted since you last saw the board with a blue bar. The second kind always marks the newest post with a dark blue bar.

You can use them both if you like.

Quickreply

If you've got it enabled in your profile you can use QuickReply. This uses Javascript to give you a reply form on the Discussion Board instead of going to the posting page.

It's a quicker way to reply. Hence the name.
