Extravagant World of Warcraft setup includes 47 PCs, seven

And you thought adding a trio of displays to your mobile gaming rig was hardcore. To be frank, calling this setup "extravagant" could be the understatement of the month (or year), but it's a tad hard to articulate how mind-blowing a 47 PC, seven monitor World of Warcraft installation actually is. According to the original poster, all but two of the machines are "diskless" to cut down on load times and energy consumption, and both he and his SO threw down for oh-so-comfy recliners to kick back and raid in. Of course, envious (and understandably skeptical) commenters have questioned the true motives behind such a momentous rig (farm much?), but it's not like this is the first time we've seen a fanboy take things to the extreme. Click on through to catch the full gist.

Odd thing is they appear to have 67 boxes for WoW. Although calling these people retarded is a given truth.

Unless each of those boxes has less computing power than a spastic toaster, I can't see why that many are required to play a game with such undazzling performance requirement as WoW.

Nice that his girlfriend shares his hobby though, I guess.

I wasn't sure on that - it's inferred in the links from this article, but I read it somewhere else a while back (Stumbled) and it sounded more like a clustery thing.

Had a dig, and he does mention KVMs, so it's many characters, each, yes.

Pity that in order to do that, they must have simplified each characters actions with so many macros that operating them must be an exercise in tedium.

not to mention the cost in powering them, the interweb connection(s) they'd need.

and the cost of 46 wow subscriptions.

Seems fairly retarded, even if they're only doing it to farm gold.

Ahh, but if they sell said gold they could make easily £7000 or £8000 a month.

So people actually buy in-game money for real money? :faint:

The whole thing is retarded.
