I got my key immediately, files are via bittorment (and gettable after the 9th) which isn't great.

Never heard of this before, but a RTS without the base-building bits could well work for me.

Is this the one where you basically pick a side, and play in a world conflict MMONG style?

I imagine some "berk" will host it directly. He often does! :)

Anyhoo, what's so bad with torments? They work pretty well for me.

*Exactly*

Torments usually work pretty well.

Usenet always works very well. always download at line speed, no waiting for that last .1% and no incriminating yourself by uploading.

I got in the closed beta for this (see my thread about it, it's probably a few pages back). It looks like it could be a huge amount of fun, but it is highly dependent on teamwork. The multiplayer is a round based system, like a mix of the Conquest mode from BF2 and CS:S's rounds with tanks, helicopters and artillery.

You start out with a bunch of requisition points to get your units. You order them up and they're airdropped onto the map. Your units gain veterancy like in Generals or C&C3. If your units get blown up, their points trickle back to your pool to be spent again. So in effect, you have unlimited resources, but you have a limit on how many units you can have.

Also, you get Tactical Points by doing shit like killing other units and capturing points. You can use the TPs to call in air strikes, artillery barrages, anti-air strikes, and nukes.

The game is very shiny, and I think it's worth a look. It requires a bit of organization, but no much beyond what we've done with BEEEEEF.

I think you'll find that hay isn't very good for healing, but rather good for feeding animals over winter months! :P
