After-Hourz.com new Barbarossa map/mod

Post by Woo Elephant Yeah »

http://www.after-hourz.com/cod/barb.php

Code: Select all

Map by: Mark "Slyk" Dittman
Scripting: Innocent Bystander
Models and Skins: Lex and Postman 778

Recommended Gametype: Conquest

With 'Barbarossa', take part in the greatest land invasion in history as you experience first-hand the momentum of Blitzkrieg with the men and machines of Panzer Group 2 as they charge eastward through Belorussia in early July, 1941. With the encirclment of Minsk complete, the Panzers turn east once again racing for the Berezina River southeast of Minsk.

Nearly 1 kilometer square, Barbarossa provides a massive landscape to plan your assaults and defenses. Farm fields and rivers to cross, trenchlines to assault, ridgelines to defend, villages to take. You will be equipped with a range of entirely new and historically accurate vehicles : the Germans will attack using PanzerIII and Panzer IV medium tanks, the Sturmgeschütz III armored assault gun, or load up 6 assault troops in a SdKfz Halftrack, all supported by 75mm Pak40 anti-tank guns. The Russians will face the onslaught with the monstrous KV-1 heavy tank, the nimble and quick firing BT-7 light tank, the tenacious BA10 armored car, or lay in wait with a 45mm anti-tank gun for approaching Panzers. You must learn the strengths and weaknesses of each of these new weapons to be successful - each one is a very different and only by being properly employed will your mission be successful.

This is 'Barbarossa'. The Blitzkrieg has started!
The most interesting thing about this map, is the extra vehicles you get to use as well.

Well I've given this map a good run, and I must say it's brilliant.

The new vehicles and ground based weapons are excellent, and you really get the impression that you're trying to push your whole team "across a battlefield" rather than just the end of another map.

Anybody fancy giving it a go later on next week?

Just downloaded and had a play on this, pretty good fun I must say! :D, it's definitely got a different kind of gamepley to it, I didn't even get to see the other side of the map.

Would be good to run on Bukkake but I don't think we have enough players to make it worthwhile, we should get together and jump on a busy game at some point.
