About two weeks ago, I tried to log into my steam account and it popped up the login/password screen. I had it set to auto-login, which was odd that it didn't connect. I tried every user name and password I have possibly known, and nothing seemed to work. I tried the whole "send me my information" bit, using the user name (no e-mail reply), e-mail address (still no e-mail) and CD Key (see a patten forming?).
Finally, I went through the whole "Help my account has been hijacked!" bit on steam, and now i'm waiting to hear back from them. Anyone else ever have a problem similar to this? I want to know if I should be hear back soon, or if I'm proper fucked.
Avast, I think I've been Shangai'ed!

Took a few days but they sorted it out with no problems. I'm quite impressed (and glad that I haven't been VAC banned).

If you used the same password and email combination as you did for 5punk, then unfortunately, that's a likely source - given the sudden increase in paypal and Steam hacks of members so soon after we were attacked.
phpbb is not entirely secure by any means, so I'd urge you to change any passwords on systems that have access to your money which match your 5punk one.
I know it's hard to remember loads of different passwords, especially for ones you don't have to type much, like PayPal and Steam, but sadly if it's your 5punk one, it's likely someone out there knows it, and it's your money they want to steal.
Additionally I'd like to suggest that anyone attacked in this way furnish the authorities with as much information as possible. While I've noticed that some people laugh hacking attempts off as script kiddies having a bit of a game, it's still attempted theft, and while you may have a grudging respect for the hackers ingenuity, or not believe much could be done to un-do the wrong, I still think it's valid for such crimes to be recorded.

If the thought of having a bazillion passwords is stopping you, do what I do: I have a secure password and a less secure one. The secure one is long, wierd, and lettery/numbery. I only use it for stuff I really dont want people to get at, but which are less likely to be haxxored, such as paypal, steam and my email. Stuff like 5punk, or those random sites that make you sign up before you can use them, get the other, less secure password.
I think all the haxxors will have got with my 5punk password is access to my demonoid and empornium accounts. Oh no, they will abuse my ratios!

I still use my old password for stuff I can't be arsed to change, but my email, Steam, Paypal etc have been changed to two different strong passwords. I have to remember so many passwords at work anyway that a couple more are no big deal, and if one doesn't work chances are it'll be the other one.
