Call of Duty 4 trailer

Sure, you could wait until the NFL draft on ESPN today to see the "exclusive worldwide reveal" of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare ... or you can just click the movie above. CoD4 was pseudo-announced earlier this week when advertisements for the game showed up on our own little piece of the intertubes. Now game announcements can come in many forms, either from the actual company, ESRB, Gamefly or even the advertisements on our own website.

It definitely looks like Call of Duty is going in a different direction, for better or worse will certainly be determined by sales. It looks like we've got some nasty "Eastern Europeans" and jihadists. Fighting Nazis is pretty cool across the board, but delving into the modern political climate may hit just a little close to home. Check out the trailer above to see if it reminds you of a stylized version of the six o'clock news.Permalink | Email this | Comments

Interesting. At least it's not another WWII game and it would be interesting to play the other side in the recent conflicts.

I can't think of a game where you got to do that in SP, Battlefield and Full Spectrum Warrior let you do it in MP, but received a lot of unwarranted criticism as a result.

Indeed, it would be a brave move if they put it in the SP. At least they'd probably get plenty of publicity.

I'm bound to buy it if it comes out on the PC, even if it is just for the single player experience

definitely looks good, i especially like the way the terrorists move so fluidly and life like (assuming that it is a fair representation of in-game).

no doubt a lot of people will be unhappy about the change of era but i think a developer has to ask it's a very important question when re-treading ground thats been done before, "can we make something better than is already out there" and if anyone can, call of duty can.

One thing i still really want to see is people actually falling to the ground after being shot in the leg, crawling for cover and continuing to fight from the ground.

I'm fairly sure that happens in both OFP and ArmA

Had about an hours worth of fun on COD3 earlier and i must say its the buggiest game evar. I walked upstairs into a room to find 3 men standing in a circle looking extremely confused at a forth man, who had sunk into the floor up to his waist jumanji style. They would all systematically look at me for a while with the same blank look on their faces as if to say 'wtf'. I lolled

Noticed them limping in STALKER too, although it's not that new a concept. The Action HL mod used the HL1 engine's leg-shot detection, and Soldier of Fortune went to town on having enemies drop guns, etc when you shot their hands.

I quite like the ones in hitman who go down on the floor after taking a few bullets, in too much pain to fight back but still just alive enough to survive. This gives you the ever fun 'kill or maim' option.
