Repeated xFire spackage

Post by fabyak »

Lately my xFire keeps spacking out and complaining that toucan.dll is buggered and so xfire doesn't log me as doing anything (im not even sure if I show up as being online). A reinstall fixes it for a bit but before long it happens again, anyone else getting this?

Not that one, but have had games bomb out revealing an XFire error much more than usual, and had right trouble connecting last night. Gave up with it when playing Dark Messiah - the only way I can get it to crash more is by attempting to run it under Fista.

I have a strong suspicion that XFire has been causing a certain amount of machine death recently.

I remember hearing something about toucan before... check the xfire forums.
My xfire has been disconnecting a lot recently, but it's possible that it just doesn't like uTorrent.

Mine was really bad yesterday, constant disconnects etc. It was alright this morning though, but it's closed now.

I'm sure mine would be bad... if I could connect to it without first logging on to a special laggy, dog-slow non-firewalled Uni VPN that also disconnects itself every four hours. :x

I had the constant disconnecting thing a while ago, I put it down to my ISP doing traffic shaping at the time.

Mine has a rather charming habit of crashing Soup Commander and Stalker. And disconnecting.

you can disable xfire in game on a per-game basis, might be handy.

I already have it disabled for Stalker and it still crashes it. I wonder if Xfire has been taken over by EA...?
