A tiger

Post by FatherJack »

Was talking a stroll through the woods when a tiger jumped on me and killed me. This sort of attack cannot be tolerated!!111!

I may have "provoked" it down to 1 HP and then fallen asleep for 2 days, but it's the principle!

I you see the loathsome beast, please KoS. It was mostly orange, with black stripes.

On a similar not I (that's Dog Pants, not Inu Pantu) have decided to start a campaign for the protection of parrots. They're friendly birds and are being attacked and killed needlessly on the island. I we don't take action they may become extinct, and then I'll have nobody to teach to swear in the jungle.

Actually, that would be brilliant. Being able to teach words to the parrots. Imaging stumbling through the jungle and encountering a parrot who squawks "WILLIES!".

I put a post up on the forums, but I've had to create an account for the Wiki and can't confirm my email until I get home. If anyone else wants to stick it up on my behalf feel free, otherwise I'll do it later.

Code: Select all

Talking parrots:

Possibly available by use of a parrot training skill, but probably more fun if you have to repeat a word to a parrot a number of times. Say, a random amount between 5 and 15. Other players entering the same square will be greeted by the word (or words) that parrot has learned. For extra realism it could repeat that word ad nauseum until you either leave it's square or feel compelled to teach it something else. Obviously this would have no real game affecting effect, but it is rather amusing.

Search for them in the jungle, except the tiger tooth amulet which according to the wiki is found in the temple ruins south of the shipwreck.

I have a parrot feather charm (but it's okay, I'm sure the parrot wasn't harmed in the making of the charm). No idea what it does though.

It seems like the traders don't sell charms - at least, the guy in York didn't have any when I checked - which is annoying.

Edit: it seems like the traders do sell charms, actually - at least, the tiger tooth charm has a "normal trade value" entry in the wiki.

If you still want to sell it, I'll buy it from you if you know how to dig holes (apparently stuff dropped into holes doesn't disappear).

The charms have pros as well as cons

A full list of what they do is on the official forum somewhere, and I can only vaguely remember what they do.

Tiger tooth: Increases chance of critical blows, but decreases your chances of dodging attacks.

The other amulets do things like protecting from spirit wailing, decreasing your search results, increasing/decreasing animal attacks etc.
