Flashpoint Info

Post by Carwash »

Sunday night is Flashpoint night. A regular coop game will start at 7pm (GMT).

You will need:

Operation Flashpoint: Resistance patched to 1.96
http://www.flashpoint1985.com/download/download.html

And the FDF mod version 1.3
http://koti.mbnet.fi/fdfmod/downloads.html

I also reccomend you grab the DXDLL addon
http://koti.mbnet.fi/kegetys/flashpoint/dxdll10.zip
This adds some nice graphical features, but it's not needed to play.

There are a million addons for OFP, new islands, vehicles and more. To begin with we'll try and stick to just the above. As a regular group of 5punky Flashers develops we can add more and see how it goes. Make sure you read the readme for the FDF mod.

Well I'm an old Flahpoint fanatic. I haven't played for a while...and by that I mean about 2 weeks. That's a long time for me.

I'm a coop fan, I have many addons, and I make my own missions from time to time.

My only sadness is the difficulty I have in finding regular, dedicated and sensible people to play coop missions with. If you think you fit this description, I would definitely be up for coop games on a regular basis.

Let me know...

Woah, old thread ressurection! I've got OF somewhere, but none of the expansions or anything. If there's somewhere I can pick these up from I'll join in and have a go some time.

The only site you need is Flashpoint.info. It has almost everything ever done for OFP. I'll post a list of the "must haves" sometime today, with direct links where possible

Right here goes. This is what I consider 'must haves'. All can be found at http://ofp.gamezone.cz/ unless stated otherwise.

1. First off, install Resistance and patch to 1.96 (as above). Note that Resistance creates a whole new folder inside the OFP dir. Despite what many addon makers say, leave the Resistance Addons directory alone, and put all new ones on the root Addons dir.

2. The shortcut: add a few arguments to the shortcut like this, where -mod=@??? refers to the mod directory. Eg. I put the llaumax hi res skies mod into a directory called @llaumax. Makes it easier to turn them off or have different shortcuts for different game styles.

C:\...\OperationFlashpoint\FLASHPOINTRESISTANCE.EXE -nomap -nosplash -mod=@ECP;@llaumax;@SANCANIM etc etc.

These mods make things prettier, but are not essential:

1. Kegety's DXDLL (as above)

2. LLaumax Hi Res Skies: http://ofp.gamepark.cz/index.php?showthis=7782

3. Better Animations: ftp://www.gamezone.cz:8021/ofpd/unofadd ... patrol.rar

[EDIT] Just found this one too, which is higher res textures. You can stick this in a @mod folder too. There is a 'trees' upgrade included but it requires a separate addon and all the links are bust. ftp://www.gamezone.cz:8021/ofpd/unofadd ... t_pack.rar

[EDIT] And here's a nice one that replaces the crappy BIS Russian units with some nicer ones. Read the readme carefully if you've got ECP installed as well! ftp://www.gamezone.cz:8021/ofpd/unofadd ... ckArmy.rar

Game Updates

1. Enhance Config Project (ECP). Now there are 3 big projects (ECP, FFUR, Y2K) that upgrade the graphics, AI, physics, weapon effects etc etc. They are all slightly different and not compatible. The best IMO, and most stable in MP is ECP 1.085: ftp://www.gamezone.cz:8021/ofpd/mods/EC ... aller).exe

2. You'll also need JAM3 for the weapon upgrades: ftp://www.gamezone.cz:8021/ofpd/unofaddons2/JAM3.rar

3. Also, arguably the best total conversion mod, FDF, has just gone release 1.4: http://koti.mbnet.fi/~fdfmod/downloads.html (Best run alone cos it t'ain't compatible with ECP)

A Few Addons

This is by no means exhaustive. There are literally thousands of mods out there. These are a few of the best packs, and what I consider must haves:

1. All things BAS (http://www.ballisticaddonstudios.com/): Full download at http://www.gazcomputers.co.uk/ofp/ofp_bas_complete.rar

2. All things DKM http://dkm.gotf.net/downloads.asp?cat=0

3. The Brits (rah!) http://www.gotf.net/downloads.asp?cat=54 and http://www.gotf.net/downloads.asp?id=144

4. And this is a great MP game to get stuck into it all, with a bit of everything. MFCTI 1.16A (4 files): http://mfcti.sourceforge.net/

That's it for now. I'll put more up as I think of them and if there's any genuine interest. Finally, if anyone knows how I can make my ofp addons available for FTP please let me know. You often need just one file to get a game with addons running, and it'd be a lot easier if you could all go to one place. Oh, and I have a DDS running :D

just incase people here are unaware, in the

Code: Select all

-mod=@ECP;@llaumax;@SANCANIM
section,

Code: Select all

 ;
acts as a seperator, to allow you to trigger multiple mods (using -mod= more than once usually causes problems) :)

Thanks Mr P. I have now got two options to get this working, try the first option first.

1. OFP DDS Server name = Friznit Pwd = friznit IP 82.0.228.182 Port 2302

2. Hamachi = 5punknet3 VPN = 5.12.153.124 Rest remains the same

If it's an FTP server you're after you could try WarFTP, it's quite easy to use and is free

Groovy. Fresh back from a VNC lesson with a mate, I now have my 'stuff' directory set up on Filezilla. This included all sorts of floorware, torrents and all the OFP mods you can shake a stick at. Shout me if you want to get access. :) 'tis easily done from your favourite browser.

This gives me teh fear but I guess it's better than it was. The other one looks nice though, I like WarFTP because it's retro internet :)

I didn't know Filezilla does server as well, gets my vote then as it's a good client and free.

Beware fellas. I'm gonna 5chedule a game sometime in the next couple of days. More than likely to be a coop type. Hope to have some interest. If not, I'll be playing solo. Again. With my tanks, and planes, and guns and nukes. Rah!

approximately how large, in total, is the download needed to make all this work?

And am I right in assuming that we are talking floorware here, or not?
