Looking for Suggestions

Post by Hehulk »

Begining to think my time with eve may be comming to an end ( ), and since I play very little else (CSS, Beef and Dark crusade aside) I'm curious what you kind folk may be able to recomend to fill my time with between now and when I (finally) get into the army. Very latest games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R and Supcom are out, since I can't run them overly well and running games on low graphical settings puts me off them.

So, suggestions?

ZOMGWTFBBQ! Is it the impending joining of the Army that is ending you career in Eve then, or do you have a slight niggly feeling you may have spent just about as much time playing it as the human body can cope with? :)

What sort of games do you want? For RPG type games, I'd suggest Fable, Jade Empire (which I'm currently enjoying and is fairly similar to Fable) and Oblivion. Even toned down, Oblivion is still very good. If you reckon that even toned down its too much of a strain, I'd highly recommend Morrowind, Oblivion's predecessor. You can get the Game of the Year edition with the two expansions in bargin-bins all over the place now, such as atPlay for £7.99. I played this game for hours, and still have a load of the mods on a disc somewhere. Check your PMs. ;)

Other than that, it depends very much on what type of game grapes your squildo. Have you tried Black and White?

Tried black and white ages ago. Quite enjoyed it then but as I recall I got stuck midway on the campaign as I couldn't get enough infulence to reach that one village to send my creature off to and then cast spells etc.

Not sure what I'm looking for as far as game types go. Just suggestions I can look into and go hmm, that looks fun.

As for the eve thing, nearly 5000 hours is sorta enough atm. Plus the game has changed alot from what it was 2 years ago, and I'm not overly fond of where the community is these days. Boarder-line exploits and very shady tactics are the norm now, where as a year ago logging off a fleet would have had you hung drawn and quartered on the forums and your name burried in mud.

Hmm, well I'll have a rummage through my Big Box of Games and see whats there that I enjoyed in the past then, so that I can recommend ones that you should go out and buy just like I did, as with Morrowind. I'm sure there are a couple that were lots of fun that have slipped my mind.

There are oodles of good games out there, and plenty of them are old enough to be enjoyable on a lower spec system. If it's multiplayer you're after tehn just look at what's being scheduled and talked about on the boards, if it's single player then I'm sure we can help but you might have to be more specific about what you like. Personally I'm playing Psychonaughts, Armed Assault and TOCA Race Driver 2 at the moment (as well as the normal 5punky multiplayer stuff).

Good way of looking at it - on my PC I currently have Vampires: The Masquerade, GTA:SA and Jade Empire installed - all part completed. GTA:SA I'd played through once in the past and was getting bored with second time through, and for some reason just stopped playing Vampires, although I was enjoying it so will pick it up again I think. Psychonauts was ace but I never completed it cos I had to do a reformat and never got round to reinstalling it, but I may have to soon cos I want to give it a full run through.

On the 5punky multiplayer front there seems to be a lot of activity at the mo. However, and I'm not sure if its just me, it seems a bit more like fillers until the next Beef or CS:S comes along. Things like Joint Ops just feel a bit like they'll be fun for maybe a month or so, but I can't imagine it going on for all that long - kind of similar to SWAT or Raven Shield. I've not been too keen on RTS games for a fair few years now, and am consequently shite at them now, so always tend to lean towards FPS games for multiplayer.

I think what hehulk means is that he is perhaps going to reduce his overtime a bit, and just do the usual working week of 37 hours. :)

Do you own any consoles, or is this just PC stuff?

Are looking for something to suck up massive amounts of time, an SP game that's something a bit Eve-like, or just stuff that's good for a casual blast every now and then?

I own:
A Gamecube
An Xbox
A PS2 (by proxy, but I've a thing against PS2/1/3/etc))
2 Dreamcasts
N64
Sega Satarn

And preferably something that you play with others, can put down without having nagling feeling of guilt that your not helping someone somewhere and can generally have a giggle.

Stuff you can play the 5punky way cover it?

Small Edit: Sorry, but having played so little else for so long, I'm at a loss as to what exactly I'm missing from gaming.

Was just asking about the consoles in case it was an SP time-sucking thing you wanted. If it's MP you crave, forget consoles - just sign up for every 5cheduled 5punk game and poke people on XFire you know have the the games you do when nothing else is happening.

Unless we're talking a bunch of your mates round your house playing, multiplayer pretty much sucks (with randoms), pimp some stuff in gaming chat and 5chedule it with a few days notice.

If you meant tips on stuff to play at home with mates on teh consoles, then I have a few ideas there, too.
