I'm proud of 5punkorp and this is why

Post by Hehulk »

16 months ago, no-one knew about 5punkorp, and aside the small but loyal member base no-one cared about 5punkorp.Then by corp vote, we joined ISS and went off to live in querious (Check the posts from back then). Back then we figured making 60 mil an hour was a horrificly big sum of isk, and that BSs were the zeneth of skill training which you needed a mighty 3-4 mil SP to fly really well, and weeks of corp ops to produce.

Looking around today, I see corp mining ops that pull in 10 times what we dreamed of back then. I see pilots who really are reaching the zenith of SP you can stick into a BS, and I see corp industry so strong that we could go 5 BS? sure, that'll take a day or two. I see alliance leaders going, 5punk, do us a favour will ya?

Remebering our roots, from a humble bunch of slackers in frulegur, to what we are now, I can't feel anything but pride. Look around guys, remeber what we where, remeber us as we are now, and lets see how much further we can go.

No, I'm not drunk, honest. Just hit me while I was making a snack how far we've come, and I wanted to make sure everyone else was well aware.

Just in the time I've been with the corp we've grown alot. Of course, I recruited some of that growth, so I have special feelings because of that. We've lost people along the way, and it's always been fun! The 5punky way is one that works for 5punkorp.

I really do appreciate the friends I have in 5punk. In many ways, you're closer than some friends in RL, because we share such common interests.

Uber 5punky thread TiEM Gho!!!!

As an original second-generation 5punkorp member (Joose, Roman et-al being the first generation - At one point 5punkorp consisted pretty much of Hehulk, Wiggy and myself) I can attest to just how far 5punkorp has come. I haven't played for around a year, but since the move to ISS I saw us playing a part in construction of an outpost and our fledgeling mini-fleet ops. Since then I've kept an eye on the 0.0 forums and seen recruitment go up, and with it the Corp as a whole gaining in power and influence. It's been quite astonishing.

I only ever managed 60mil total though in 0.0, and should I ever log on again I'm going to find myself in a PvE Cyclone in W9 with no POS to hide at :(

Who's missing from that list?? I've never left 5punkorp! Fab is the only older original 5punker than I who's currently in the corp. And that's only cos I had 45 jumps to travel to get to Fru - he had 5. And the whole bloody thing was my idea. And, and... :P

There's a reason I linked the first threads in the corp history bit. Actually - that history bit should grow to include more recent events.
Sorry chap, although when I started there really was only the three of us for a bit - you popped in occasionally and Fab was in another corp. I wasn't trying to detract from your achievements though.

For the record, I think Joose and roman were still slightly active back then too (Or wanted to be), but I could be wrong.

up until the end Joose was very active, and of course we can't forget Stoat (or Sotta as he was known in game as someone had got to 'Stoat' before him :) )

[edit] and also, I was in another corp for about a month, during which Hehulk was also in said corp! :P

Hmmm, my memory might be a bit rusty then. Joose was CEO when I joined but I didn't see much of him, and I think I saw Roman once (it was pictures of Roman's 'Thron that inspired me to play, but he stopped as soon as he built it). I'm not sure I ever saw Stoat. I'm probably remembering Hehulk as 5punkorp because I chatted to him while I was learning the ropes. I think he was actually BS.I though at the time.

I suppose I think of the 'old guard' as the guys that left about the time as I started playing, but yes Fea, Fab and Hehulk are survivors of that period. Most of my memories of my first month or two of 5punkorp was of me chatting to Hehulk because there were no 5punkers online. Maybe we should get together a 5punkorp history/timeline, I'm sure it would be interesting.

And a good time to do it, since we're writing another page in 5punky history right now. I don't want to feel left out so...perhaps not unsurprisingly it was Hehulk that yoinked me into 5punkorp too. I'd been bimbling around Metropolis for a few weeks because my mate (Rydis actually) had joined a corp down there and I went to meet up with him. His corp collapsed at about that time and I we were wondering what to do to get isk for a destroyer I think it was. He said I should jump into the recruitment channel and start begging for iskies...and Hehulk basically bought me for 1mill, just like the slave bitch that I became. I was back from Iraq, pretty depressed cos one of my friends had just been blown to smithereens and got very drunk that first night we were mining in Osvest. I seem to remember everyone thinking 'oh shit, we got a right weirdo here'. How right you were

Fru was also the first place I got podded for no reason... I would so love to get my revenge on that bastard now if he is still in there :)

I think I still have his name in my notes somewhere...

And me  When I first started playing 5punkorp was fairly active but we were mostly empire mission runners/traders/ratters/miners. I still remember the mining op that made me wish I was gallente after seeing stoat flying his thorax with 10 heavy drones :)

After a while 5punkorp started dying, cant remember why exactly but most people just seemed to lose interest. I think it was mainly dog pants and hulk online at the time with roman logging on at random intervals to mine for his mega. After months of solo mining he finally built it then quit the game... I think I got bored soon after and quit for a while. I came back a while later as 5punkorp was joining ISS and created a new gallente character, Mysterlee. I'm not sure how exactly we got back on our feet, I missed that bit, but I'm glad we did :)

We spent weeks chasing that cupcake and never caught him. He did inspire us to start fighting as a unit though.

Almost a year ago to the day I was reading my web comics (Penny Arcade) like a good computer nerd when I spotted an ad for this free 14 day trial to a Space MMO. Since I had just been reading "A Brief History of Time" and had just gotten to the part about wormholes I thought I'd go to the web site and check it out. Started reading the intro they have on the site and before I got 2 pages into it I started the download that would change my game playing for the next year.

Later that day Aki was born. Did the whole tutorial thing and was running the starter missions and thinking this is kinda boring with no one to talk to so I fired up the Recruitment channel that I learned about it the tutorial just to read others conversations. It was there, 7 hours after I had started the game, I met this honest sounding chap trying to help people in the channel. I'm not sure why, but I decided to convo said chap. Best 100isk I ever spent in EvE was that initial convo charge to talk to Dres.

I was jobless at the time, and FFXI had started to lose some of it's shine so for the first few weeks I was pulling down Hulk hours on EvE. Grilling all teh UKers with n00b questions, searching the market for new shineys to play with, and the skills needed to use them. Thanks to 5punk though I was able to overcome the steep learning curve that EvE brings and really start getting into the game.

I've seen new recruits come and stay, others to fade after the trial has ended, some good friends taking long breaks, and me taking my own break and knowing when I returned I'll still be a part of the BEST corp in Eve. Love you guys, and I'm nut sure I would have stayed this long, or brought Rain along if it had been any other way.

Coincidently, I, like Aki was unemployed when I started to play EVE just about 2 weeks after he started.

I just finished up a 3month run in City of Heroes doing prolly 80hour/week and said I need to stop playing games and start something up with RL. But, before RL started...I found the "14 Day Trial" Eve Ad appearing everywhere and decided to click on it. Good-bye RL!

By the 2nd day I was :bored: playing with myself, and joined the recruitment channel and waited until someone seemed caring instead of just wanting to mass recruit. That "caring" person turned out to be DRES! After a few quick words, I made up my mind to finish off the storyline and sell all my stuff for a shuttle and 32jump trek across the universe to Khank and become a FW4PPER!

I remember the 2 other recruits at the time....Aki and Shodowdemon. Shodo gave me a Merlin and I thought he was the greatest. (That was shortlived). Aki was quiet until the UK'ers went to bed and then he had no choice but to talk to me...because I was constantly asking him questions!

But the UK'ers, especially Hehulk(who chucked me 1mil for being a recruit) and Friz, who answered all my questions during the day. (Was a good time to be unemployed). I had no need for sleep as my brain was on fire from all the knowledge I was acquiring 20hours/day. I was sooo frustrated when DT came around...but it was prolly best for me to get a few hours of sleep.

By the 3rd month, things have slowed down and 5punkorp seemed to be a bit tired and so was I. Plus the whole needing a job thing was getting crucial. I decided to move back to Michigan and had to close my EVE accounts for the time being until I got settled with a job. Well, that time never came and I moved back to Florida and still dont have a job /sigh (hopefully will get phone call early next week /crosses fingers)

But, my point is...I missed 5punkorp and came back for a taste and the choices you are making now, to be more "5punky", it makes me want to stay and join in the good times once again. So, :ahoy: and thanks for the memories and looking forward to more good times!
