2014 Nominations: Film of the Year
Welcome to the nominations thread for the 5punk Film of the Year. This is a new award which recognises that we aren't all about videogames and penguin jokes, and that other forms of entertainment are popular and well discussed. By all means nominate your 'home movies', but please don't feel inclined to share them with us. Please post your nominations below, a poll will be taken in the New Year to determine the winner.

Guardians of the Galaxy. I was unconvinced when they announced it, but the end result was brilliant. Comedy Star Wars. Brilliant.
Edit: Oh, wait, Grand Budapest Hotel came out this year too. And Days of Future Past. And Edge of Tomorrow. And Turtles. And Interstellar. God damn, its been a pretty good year for films.

Absolutely agreed upon Guardians of the Galaxy. Humour, action, pathos - it's got it all. It's very fashionable to hate on superhero movies at the moment, even more so when people go on about "typical Marvel 3 act film". The thing is I don't see it any more a superhero film as I do with Indiana Jones. As for the 3 acts thing - surprise! Most adventure (film, book, play) takes that format.

I'll say the Lego Movie so I have something to vote for that I've seen.
Edit: I've also seen Boxtrolls and Paddington which were quite good, plus Robocop and Non-Stop which weren't.

Interstellar and Dawn of the planet of the apes were both rather good.
