I'm back with a grand, spec me a new rig, Bitches.
I'm making the shift from AMD to intel finally and SSD. So I figured fuck it, might as well start from scratch.
Do your worst.
And by worst i of course mean best.

I made this compooper after much deliberation, it's just over £1,000.

You might need to request access to view, I dunno how this Google Drive thing works completely.

Worth noting that the heat sink that I got was actually too big, my fancy-pants ram wouldn't fit with it in place.
I went for one of these instead, and haven't had any problems:

To get:
Core i5 3570k
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
Good Z77 motherboard (I went with the ASRock Z77 Pro4 for a solid value)
8-16 GB of DDR3-1600
Geforce GTX 660ti or 670
128-256GB SSD of the following models, depending on budget) Samsung 840 Pro, OCZ Vector, Corsiar Neutron GTX, Plextor M5S, Intel 525, Samsung 840, Crucial m4
2TB WD or Seagate hard drive (bonus points if you get a Seagate SSHD)
750w-800w quality PSU
Case to fit
That'll be a beast of a gaming PC.

Re: I'm back with a grand, spec me a new rig, Bitches.
What deject said. Pretty much matches mine that I built last week:
MB: Asus P8Z77-M Pro (that's mATX) - do you really need more slots?
CPU: i5-3570K - no other option.
RAM: Kingston HyperX Genesis 8 GB 1600 Mhz
Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
Case: Fractal Design Arc Mini
GPU: Asus GTX 660Ti - same as a 670 but with less bandwidth, which won't impact much (few FPS) unless you're at high res or using lots of AA.
SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 128 GB
PSU: Corsair CX Modular Builder 500W - it's a bit cheaper but still quality, and still gives plenty of overhead for this system.
Sound: Asus Xonar DGX
FWIW Mouse: Logitech G400 (I hated the G500).
Monitor: Dell U2312HM - cheap quality IPS with low input lag.
OS: W8 lolol (it's fast).
No optical drive, no HDD.

Spent so much on my card that my bank keeps refusing to let me use it as it's suspicious usage.

I should probably post about that somewhere else actually to avoid thread derail. Hang on..
