I've been waiting for this since I finished Dreamfall fucking 6 years ago. While not the greatest game, Dreamfall was an amazing, poignant experience, easily on par with anything else I've played. The Longest Journey before it is still considered one of the best adventure games ever made as well. The thought of finding out what happens after the mega cliffhanger that Dreamfall ended on is making me so excited. I WANT IT NOW!

Very this. Longest Journey was awesome, and although Dreamfall wasn't nearly *as* good, it was still damn entertaining. More please!deject wrote:I WANT IT NOW!

Re: Dreamfall Chapters!!!!!!!!!!!
They got over $1.5 million dollars! I am so happy, this means that the "Director's Cut"version is getting made with a bunch of the content they cut to make the $900,000 baseline goal a feasible reality. This is the most excited I've been for a game since Mass Effect 2.

Re: Dreamfall Chapters!!!!!!!!!!!
Good news.
I wonder how much was cut from Dreamfall, as it always seemed a bit half-finished, particularly towards the end, when the chapters got progressively shorter.
It felt like that with pretty much everything after WATI Corp they'd done all the extra scenery, but ran out of time for the story or the game, and everything was just walk or be walked straight through while being talked at.
Now having finally gotten around to playing Longest Journey, it shines an even more revealing light on Dreamfall - the earlier game just has so much more story, lore and characterisation than the sequel.
Characters which despite being 2D with only a two-frame animated mouthhole seem to come alive far more than the rather stiff 3D representations of returning characters in the second game.
I hope the decision to make a 3D sequel won't limit them too much with the added complexity and that they can conclude the story in a satisfying way, though I probably have as many questions about what went on in the ten years between the two existing games.

Re: Dreamfall Chapters!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, I finished The Longest Journey and despite hoping it would fill in some gaps I was left pretty wanting.
One can draw between the lines about how April became how she acts in Dreamfall after ten years in a changing Arcadia, but the events in Stark during that time, most notably the collapse are still pretty much unexplained.
That something so big happened, which our main protagonists April and Zoe were shielded from so did not witness, yet which seemed to have so profoundly changed the recurring characters Charlie and Emma into taciturn "we try to forget what happened" characters but which is not expanded upon is pretty frustrating.
I guess the "always leave them wanting more" quote applies to how they've managed to get funding so impressively for their new venture, but while I'm keen to wander around in my pants and vest as Zoe one more time, I would really like to know the whole story, please.
