PS3 Yellow Light of Death

Post by TezzRexx »

So, mine's just died. Anyone got any experiences of getting one fixed? Either trying yourself or paying someone to do it? If so, how much did you pay?

This is down to dry joints I believe, I did hear some rumour about wrapping it in a damp towel and letting it overheat a bit. If you are feeling adventurous you could try sticking the board in the oven.

Yes it was, but I wouldn't be surprised if the PS3 suffers from it as well.

It's the curse of using lead free solder with the ball soldering method for a relatively hot part.

Ball soldering? Sounds nasty.
