PS3 European Launch 23 March, $835
Andy_R writes "Sony has finally committed themselves to a European launch date for the PS3, after disappointing European fans by not having the promised worldwide simultaneous launch, then missing the lucrative Christmas period. The BBC is reporting that the console will arrive on the 23rd of March. EU fans will only be getting the 60Gb version at first, and it will be priced at 599 Euros or 425 pounds in Britain. At today's exchange rates, that's US$ 835.99! From the article: 'A problem manufacturing blue diodes, used in high-definition Blu-ray disc drives, forced the Japanese firm to announce another delay but only for European customers. Sony said the decision was made because Europe was logistically the most complex market for distribution."

It's my Birthday on the 25th, fancy buying me a present 5punkers

£425 is a lot of money to shell out on a new games console.
I suppose it all depends if you are bothered about the Blu_ray player or not really. I wish they made it a seperate device like the 360 and reduced the cost of the console.

im preordering 3 so like that guy on the discussion board ill have 3 but unlike him i will end up with 0 as all 3 will be going on ebay at a crazily jumped up price!

I really hate that. If it was anyone else I'd hope nobody bought them and they'd be lumbered with the things and down £1350.

I'd feel dissapointed if i missed out on getting one of these because of cunts selling them on ebay for a profit. Well i'm not going to be shelling out for one on ebay so thanks alot you ebay money hound CUNTS.

What's up with people wanting consoles the second they come out anyway?

Don't know why you're acting so surprised there, Trevor - we all knew it was going to be ripoff expensive. Play are taking pre-orders for £550. Thats $1,077-eleventyone of your americandollars.

I didn't see any games for it that interested me, except GTA, but that's not around til October and on the 360 too. The 360 is currently a lot less than the PS2, and I'll be a monkey's uncle if the price doesn't drop further once the PS3 is in the shops. Course, my sister did marry an orangutan.

But then I saw FFXIII was a possible release title...that complicates things a little. I can wait til the price changes, it's what I normally do - I only got a Wii because I didn't know anyone else who was getting one, and I just had to try the controls out. Games-wise it's been a little dry.

I wouldn't worry too much, the lead designer of the Final Fantasy games has recently come out stating he wishes to develop for more consoles, which might mean his days of streamlining games for Sony are over, as obviously he wishes to make games for the market as a whole, and make more money.

Trevor said this a day or so ago, so you might want to poke him for an answer

well, you'd better sell them fucking fast chicken, because now USA PS3s are selling for barely more than retail on ebay. I'm talking $30 more. So not worth the effort.
