Co-op Zombified Gang-Bang
Left 4 Dead is a all new co-op game from the team at Turtle Rock which pits you and three companions against a horde of infected citizens.
See http://steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=game&AppId=944 for a trailer.
I know how much you all get moist just thinking about zombies, so thought I'd pass the link along. Not really my cup of tea however - needs more realism.

But how would slow zombies work in a game? It would be utter shit, as you could always backpeddle and just keep firing at them.
Unless you confine the players in tight little rooms and corridors like Resident Evil, I can't see that having slow zombies is even viable.
Besides, as much as I love the old zombie films, when playing a game with zombies, you won't stand there horrified whilst a zombie slowly crawls along the floor towards you.
Instead you'll just do some Gunslinger hax and run towards them, jump over them, turn around and shoot them in the head.
It's all well and good wanting slow zombies for authenticity, but when it comes to games, having a slow enemy crawling towards you is just rubbish (IMO).
The only way they could do it would be the zombies being "extremely" dificult to kill without shooting many many times, and that perhaps would then be quite good fun, but also become tiresome if not done properly.

Net necessarily; zombies in the films are a threat when they have strength in numbers (or of course if their victims are unarmed). In Dawn Of The Dead they casually take down the zombies in the mall, and the nomads even go so far as to take the piss by hitting them in the face with pies - it's only when they get complacent and get cornered by a big group that they become a threat. Same in Resident Evil - the zombies are easy to pick off individually with a shot to the head, but get tougher when there are a dozen shambling towards you and every shot has to count before you have to reload.
I'd love to see fights between a small squad of players holding off a horde of hundreds of zombies while attempting a helivac or something. I think having the fast zombies is probably easier and better in the long run though, as normal zombies would probably get very repetitive very quickly, and the other varieties look rather good.

I love that part, especially when the dude puts his arm into a blood pressure measuring thing trapping his arm in there, then a group of zombies turns up and his mates leg it. If you want to see how hundreds of zombies attacking a small group of people play out, then i remember having a hl1 mod called zombie panic (i think, i recall there were 2 of them( also i may be confusing this with a hl2 mod, i'll look into it)) which was basically this exact same thing. I remember it being quite awesome. Also, this had much bigger team slots
/edit: no apparently zombie panic was the shit one like that cs:s mod, what i was talking about is brain bread: http://files.filefront.com/brainbreadv1 ... einfo.html mmm zombies. I used to play this quite a bit way way way before my time here

Cant the zombies be player controlled aswell? I seem to remember reading that somewhere. Depending on how many zombies you can have that would make up the rest of the players.Dr. kitteny berk wrote:Looks good, unfortunately (as usual with coop games) the player limit seems really low (4) which'll make it suck for 5punk. at least until it's hacked.
