Political Compass

Post by Roman Totale »

In light of the election and the other political debates going on, I thought it would be interesting to see where everyone stands on the Political Compass.

http://www.politicalcompass.org

Now obviously it's not completely accurate, but I reckon it would give a good visual insight into the political leanings of most 5punkers. For reference, mine is below.

Apparently I'm a bit like the Dalai Lama (but without the penchant for rancid yak's butter). Not sure I agree with "communist" leanings it has put on the graph, but that is a reflection of the open ended nature of the questions (which is also something that annoys me about MORI polls etc). I also find it strange it didn't put me more towards Authoritarian, as I agreed with a lot of the "discipline" questions such as death penalty and smacking children (smack the buggers harder I say).

Either way, give it a go and post your results. You capitalist fascist pigs.

Fucking hippy!

Did you look at how you could answer the questions deliberately authoritarian? I tried it and ended up making me friends with hitler. All you need to do is crush the man and love the multi-national/single state government, hate porno and love god. Simple really.

Mine looked much the same. I think there was a lot of weighting going on there, asking ridiculous questions that would make anyone look left wing.

EDIT:

It does make me wonder just what the likes of Bush actually think to come out where they did. Surely people don't actually think like that?

As expected. I also expect most 5punkers will be liberal left as well due to the nature of those questions.

It placed me in exactly the same location as Berk.

I agree that the questions are more than a little weighted towards the left though.

I got to the second page and decided not to bother. Whoever wrote that is *bad* at not letting their own ideas influence the wording of the questions. Some of them might as well have been "I am a horrible racist" or "Capitalist bastards can roast slowly in hell".

They do that on purpose you know, so you can't be Mr. Blandson and not choose anything. Make up your mind!

What a load of rubbish. The whole thing is full of such leading questions that are so obviously biased towards "agree with me or you're an evil bastard!" that anyone with a shred of humanity will be branded a fucking lefty liberal pot smoking tree hugger. And some of the questions are just wrong. For example:

"A significant advantage of a one-party state is that it avoids all the arguments that delay progress in a democratic political system."

Is a true statement. That doesn't mean it's a good thing though. But anyway, trying hard to answer honestly and avoiding the temptation to click 'nuke the fuckers':

If you understand the question I'm not seeing the problem.

If you left out "don't," then WTFLEARN2GOOGLE.
