If you touch your software enough does it become hardware?

FF 3.6 Tab Order fix

Post by buzzmong »

3.6 is out, and the lovely chaps at Mozilla have seen fit to fuck about with normal shit again (note: the awesome bar never was, and never will be awesome, you shits).

This time the inital "wtf? why's that changed?" factor is the tab order, noticably new tabs from links/content are no longer opened at the end, but rather added next to the current open tab.

It's a little bit confusing and if like me, you're adverse to changes in functionality then I present the fix:

Simply about:config it, and toggle browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent to false from the default of true, and it's back to normal.

Yes, I'm bored, but it was annoying me and I'm fickle.

Or just use Tab Mix Plus like everyone else.

Awesome bar is super awesome, by the way.
I like being able to type in a few phrases from a URL and firefox finds it, especially at work.

I did notice the tab weirdness, but it doesn't bother me.

It surprised me at first but now I'm used to it and mostly prefer it :)

Are you sure you're talking about Firefox here?

I like that change. It's most helpful when I've got lots of tabs. Takes some getting used to but seems to makes sense.

I try to stick to as vanilla FF as I can. Minimal addons, etc.

I pretty much have all my main sites openable from one or two letters from the url.

Oh, and unless it's changed since whenever I started running the 3.6 beta, it opens the new tab next to the tab that opened the link, or at the end if it was a bookmark.

which makes perfect sense to me.
