Pants does CoH

Post by Dog Pants »

I figured I'd start a new post off about this because we've sort of threadjacked the Fairyland thread with it.

I've started playing City of Heroes (for all the Eve chaps going "nooooo!", it's mostly because I can pick it up and drop it when I like, not because I never plan on playing Eve again). Thing is I accidentally got the EU version, not thinking that it would probably restrict me to only being able to join the EU servers. Obviously it did so now I'm stuck there with seemingly no way of transferring to the US one where you others are.

However, while looking through old posts I've found quite a few from people saying "Anyone playing on EU?". So are any of you still out there? Fun as it may be I can only solo for so long and I very much doubt I'll enjoy playing with randoms. I suppose at the very worst I could play for a month then get the US version next month instead - the cost works out the same - but I'm not sure I can be arsed.

I am fairly sure you can switch your account to the US for free, I believe killavoddy did it.

I'll have a rummage and see what I can find.

I think I have multiple accounts on both sides of the pond, two attempts at it have failed to keep me interested though.

They transferred an account but not characters from EU to US with no probs.

Well I'm not too bothered about the character - I only have one and he's only low level. If that's going to get me the best play out of the game then I'll do it, but I'd be interested as to how many people we've got on either side.

I cant find the exact info on the plaync or CoH sites. I am sure killavodka was on EU servers because he didn't have a valid credit/debit card, then once he found a way to get game cards he switched his account and joined us with his slashy-slashy character.

In other news: yay!

Berk, Roman and myself are all on the Guardian US. IIRC, Joose and Ty have accounts on the same server.

I do indeed, and if there is an upsurge in popularity again I may try and channel some funds in that direction. Wont be till after christmas though.

I hope there is - the missions are pleasantly storylined even if they're not particularly varied, and I imagine they're quite fun with a good group of half a dozen or so. I'll probably have to contact customer support to get my account moved to the US, but I already have the client so it's not a massive problem. It's easy enough to re-create my character again, or start a different one depending on who already does what.

I'll post my experiences here, or maybe a new thread explaining how to get involved to make life easier for anyone else who fancies it.

I know you can certainly swap from eu to us when you first make your account, and quite easily too. Not sure about once you have been playing a while, but its worth a shot.

If that fails, swapping from us to eu servers is (alledgedly) free and relatively easy, and keeps characters intact, so we could all do that if it came to it I suppose.

As for who does what, I have characters on practically every server, and of practically every type in the game. Yes, my name is Joose, and I am an alt-oholic.

Hmmm, that's what I was hoping to do - I realised my mistake before it'd finished downloading but I'd already paid for it. I couldn't see a way though.

Roman also mused on this, which is why I haven't gone any further with the switch over. Maybe more people would give it a go if we were all on the EU server, although I wouldn't expect everyone to move just because I cocked up.

I personally have no issue moving over to EU (as long as I get to keep my character(s) ). I like to random team as well as playing with 5punkers, and the time difference sometimes means it's a bugger finding people online.

I have CoV EU, I hardly play it, I just like making the occasional character. But if there are a few like minded evil doers I'd gladly play properly.

Well I've sent a question to the account support team asking if it's possible to move to US. Wait and see what happens there.

You are just showing off because you are the only one that can get in there.
