F.E.A.R Combat

Post by Woo Elephant Yeah »

I downloaded this about a month ago, and I have to say, this is probably the best FREE online game I have ever played.

Highly enjoyable, and you can run the game on low graphics settings and still have lots of fun.

What makes this game great for me is the maps, as they have all been thought out, and created very well.

This allows for some very obvious, yet highly enjoyable play, and some of the maps remind me of the Blood Gulch in Halo, and others of Office in CSS.

Add to this futuristic weapons, and quick respawn times, and you have yourself a free online MP that everyone can enjoy.

I'm hoping with a bit of pimping from myself and others, I can convince you all to install this and play a few games together, as I think it has the potential to be a regular game at 5punk, especially as "everyone" can play it.

The major downside to the game is that some of the buttons are set to really odd keys like H to run, and Shift to Zoom.
These are easily configurable though, and once you set them to what you want, the game becomes far more enjoyable, allthough if you played the SP game, I'm guessing the control sets won't be as big an issue

You can download the game from HERE

It will run alongside the a bought version right? I remember it being quite fun online, 5punk as a whole never really embraced it though. I think it was the lack of comedy german phrases.

I have the full ver, and can only assume this version has some better-thought-out maps, or at least that you were fortunate enough to find a server with post-pubescent players.

I found most of the spawn points to be right in the middle of choke and encounter points, so you'd frequently be caught in crossfire straight away, if not obliterated outright. Also even the more out-of-way spawn points were heavily camped, and often 'nade spammed. Perhaps you could name a few maps that are good as I think there were only 2 or 3 widely played when I tried it.

The outdoor "Russian Woods" map is great (similar to Blood Gulch on Halo) and the officey type one which is really popular I can't remember the name of. Others have been pretty random maps, and I'm useless at remembering their names.
All fo them seem to differ quite a bit, which is why I find them enjoyable.

I have had a bit of spawn camping against me, but then I just choose to grab a sniper or pulse rifle thingamy, and as soon as I spawn, I run like a motherfucker.

This makes you almost impossible to hit, but at the same time you cannot use your gun.

I then hide behind something and shoot the camper, and continue with the game.

What I have found is that if you play alongside people who follow you or vice versa, the game takes on a whole new dynamic, and becomes far more enjoyable, which is why I think it would suit 5punk rather well, as this is the main reason people play Beef.
