I am indeed, had it pre-ordered for a couple of months now. I've been guaranteed one from Game's launch deliveries. I've ordered The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess from play.com (so should come on launch day or shortly thereafter). Aside from the bundled Wii Sports, I'll hopefully be getting Cod 3 or Preferably Far Cry: Vengeance with it.
I've not been this excited since I was a wee whelp and the N64 was coming out. Rocking.

After reading this: http://www.1up.com/do/feature?cId=3155556
I realise I need to prepare for the special day and you should too.
1. To be environmentally friendly we don't want to go through millions of AA batteries, we should use rechargeable ones. The USBCell ones are a little expensive but a neat solution. Otherwise a regular charger + battery combo would be good.
2. If you have a decent TV you'll be wanting a component cable. The composite cables that are included are apparently pretty bad. There appears to be both RGB SCART and Component Video cables available separately at or soon after release. I'm assuming they will have the same effect on the quality of the picture unless someone can correct me.

for batteries i'd suggest http://www.strikalite.co.uk/ - they're generally pretty cheap (postage can be a tad steep) and have all sorts of goodies.
and i was gonna suggest using old nintendo cables, but they did away with that

And then from http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/6155664.stm :1up.com wrote:The Wii's got a great little online backend and interface, but to get on there you have to go wireless. If you're one of those stone age bastards who doesn't have everything from your PC to your coffeemaker linked up through a cloud of magic computer rays, well, tough. You can't plug the little bastard into a wall. If you won't join the wireless age then Nintendo just doesn't want you playing their online games. You know, if they had any.
Differences in american and UK models maybe?bbc news wrote:At the back of the console are two USB ports, for connecting to the internet if wi-fi is unavailable and for transferring information.

I hope it has better security options than the DS wifi, which only works with the most basic form of encryption.spoodie wrote:I was going to use wifi anyway.
That is annoying, although they are announced as being available from release from Amazon, etc. - I'll have to plug it into a VCR or something.spoodie wrote:What's annoying me is that it appears that the component cables will be released a week or so after the console. According to Game.

NOTE: That is a less than serious site
After some searching, nothing official but I found this.
Wiki wrote:The Wii console is able to connect to the Internet through its built-in 802.11b/g Wi-Fi and through a USB-to-Ethernet adaptor, with both methods allowing players to access the established Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service. Nintendo has stated that the console will implement standard Wi-Fi protocols. Wireless encryption by WEP, WPA and WPA2 appear to be supported.
