They never actually stated they were going to do it until it went up on the server, the last time they mentioned it they said either they'd add warp to 0km or they'd just get rid of bms and make people use abs and mwds.
amblin wrote:If they follow through with that and release it in Kali, all instadocks (as the warp to 0 on stations isn't really - it's warp to 1.5km) and tactical BMs would have to be remade... Fleet commanders all over eve must be crying!
You can dock/jump if you're within 3km I think. It'd be stupid if they got rid of gate instas but not station instas.

Tragically the talk also seems to be that the autopilot range won't be extended, and that it will still be set to 15km.

Game-wise, all it seems to be acheiving is to give normal manual flyers the same advantages as those who have bothered to create instas, but eliminates bookmark trading.

Game Engine-wise, I guess it's more of a reaction to the complaints about the limits on bookmark copying, by just getting rid of the need for so many.

The fact that it will help/hurt some people in-game seems almost incidental - looking as if it was not really their intention to stop gate-camping, but to fix the bookmarks problem.

I'll find it useful, as I don't fly AFK (although I might have if they'd made it as safe) and it's always seemed a bit daft that you needed n!/(n-2)! bookmarks per system with n gates.

That was my first non-ironic use of !, but I don't think it counts, here. :)

You forgot the stations, and it didn't hold true for 1 gate systems :P

g!/|g-2|! + s(g+1)

Where g is the number of gates and s is the number of stations.

/pedantic

I really dont see how people think it'll kill gate camping. It wont change anything really since most people use instas anyway and especially in 0.0 yet we all manage.

For the life of me I can't remember what that formula is for.

Number of Permutations, nPr where r is known to be 2. (Start and Destination)

Permutations, often nPr or Pn,r on a calculator.

! is factorial, e.g.

0! = 1 (it just does)
1! = 1 = 1
2! = 2x1 = 2
3! = 3x2x1 = 6
4! = 4x3x2x1 = 24
and so on.

Edit: OK FJ beat me to it. :-)

hehe. Of all the formulae they taught me at school, the ones I remember are useful in gambling.

Just to one up Friz, this news is so last year.

I'd forgotten, but this was on sisi last year when they were testing RMR, along with the BC agility changes. Be cool if it makes it in this time

I can picture it. Everyone thinks the warp to 0 function is coming, so they start deleting their instas before Kali launches. And when it does...wtf, no warp to 0?

(Would be fun to watch the forums after something like that)

Another cool feature added in the latest kali patch, you can now remove neutrals from overview :)

Or at least you will be able to when the bugs related to it get fixed, right now it removes everyone...
