Marvel Ultimate Alliance
Not that I imagine theres many of you beardy enough to get excited by this, but just in case there are some:

As an extreme comic geek, all I could say for a short while after reading about this was "FUCK! FUCK! FUCK!" (in a good way).
It seems that the developers are making a concerted effort at putting as many marvel characters in one game as is humanly possible. The figures, as far as I can tell, are 24 playable characters (could be more depending on the format you get it on) and over 140 other characters (either as npc's or enemies). This makes me slightly damp.
To be honest, I have no clue as to what the game is like itself. I imagine, from the screenshots, its something like the previous X-men: legends games, which is no bad thing. Its being developed by Raven, so theres a fair chance that it wont be utter crap.
But hell, I dont care what the game is like itself. So. Many. Characters...

i was excited about this until i saw the gameplay footage, it looks just like City of Heroes but without the RPG elements.

This. Its all very arcadey, but cracking fun. I hope this new one is the same, to be honest. Yes, the graphics in this one look...not so great, but ive never been that much of a graphics whore.Nickface wrote:I've played the X-Men games that have a similar format, and they're quite awesome.
Most of the ones they have announced so far are big names from the Marvel universe. Surely you recognise the Invisible Girl from the fantastic four? She can turn her invisibility on and off at will. I suppose they put a picture of her "powered down", as it were, because otherwise it would be an empty frameFatherJack wrote:That is a lot of characters. I recognise, er - not very many of them. I'm rather unimpressed with the "invisible" woman - can she only do it when no-one's looking like in Mystery Men?
Admittedly I am quite the comic geek, but theres only a couple of characters I dont recognise on there, and they are all from the original series of Fantastic Four, which I didnt read due to it being poo.
Im intrigued by the way they seem to have mixed and matched from the old comics (Uncanny X-Men and the other stuff from the 60's and 70's) and the new Ultimate line of comics. Seeing as its got Ultimate in the title, and the Ultimate line was made to make the characters more up to date, I dont quite understand why they have randomly gone for the old version of Nick Fury (the only difference I can tell is the colour of his skin). And how the hell the inclusion of Galactus in all this is going to work is totally beyond me.

I've never been into comics, but I'm a big watcher of animation. I vaguely remember the fantastic four from Saturday mornings as a kid, but for some reason thought there was an ice bloke in it as well. It was a while ago, so I guess she grew up into Invisible Woman. I saw the live action film last year, but can't say I recall much of the dialogue.Joose wrote:Surely you recognise the Invisible Girl from the fantastic four?
I would have taken the comedic opportunity to place an empty frame there, is what I meant.
