This is cross posted from the ISS Forum for the benefit of new members to 5punkorp. As it stands, you do not get full access to the ISS forum for the first 30 days. This post will be linked in the 0.0 Important Links thread
1. The Charter. Read the charter. Read it again. Then think about it. This is important.
2. Forums. Sign up for full forum access as soon as possible by following the instructions here. There is currently a 1 month wait for everyone for security reasons, but I will keep you updated on important stuff by means of the weekly sitreps here.
3. Intel Page. Using the In Game Browser (IGB) go here: http://praxis-initiative.com/iss/. Verify your identity and await the verification evemail. It can take sometime so be patient. Once it's arrived, go back to that link and you'll have access to the IGB intel page. It's a simple in game board where we can post intel on enemy movements. Very useful if we all use it.
4. Voice Server. Meanwhile, click on the Voice Server Info and follow all the instructions carefully. The Ventrillo server is kindly hosted by The Praxis Initiative, so please respect their protocols.
5. ISIS. Next up, click the Killboard Info link and follow the instructions carefully. This will get you sorted on ISIS - the ISS Intel Board. Please note that it is not a killboard, but an intel board so it may seem a little strange to begin with. Posting your losses is mandatory and failure to do so could result in a fine!
6. Moon Database. Also here you'll find the ISS Moon Database. It is free for ISS members and a very useful tool.
7. Hostiles. Once you get access, take some time to browse through the ISS forum. The News and Military Defence forums are a good start to get an idea of what is going on, and the Regional forums have some useful info too. Importantly, the Mil Defence forum has the long running thread on recent hostile activity Alliance Standings: Bitch About Hostiles Here. Do as it says, and don't bitch elsewhere on the forum please. That way you'll get a quicker reaction from the management. Also, subscribe to the in-game mailing list ISSempirewar. Up-to-date war target (WT) lists are posted here that you can drag and drop into your buddy list.
8. Chat Channels. Back in game, join the Regional Chat channels - these are perhaps the most important info sharing resource we have. Details can be found in each Regional overview thread but here's a list of the more important ones:
Always be Subscribed to these Channels

9. Jump Clones. You'll also want to get yourself sorted with Jump Clone rights for the outposts - this is free for ISS members (although be aware that in ISS Publicly Owned Outposts docking fees are levied at a rate comensurate with your ship size). You'll need the skill Infomorph Psychology trained to at least Lvl 1.
10. Alliance Fees. The corp currently pays 50mill per monthto ISS.
11. CSPA Service Charges. Please turn off your CSPA controlled messaging or at least set ISS to 'allowed'. This saves a lot of time when forming gangs. To set ISS to 'allowed': Open your Eve-Mail, rightclick the Inbox tab and select Settings. Open the Allowed tab and select the Add to Allowed List button. Enter Interstellar Starbase Syndicate.
That's about it but here are a few tips I've picked up on the way:
1. Don't go ratting in outpost systems: local is often full and therefore it's very difficult to spot that nasty rat jumping in to get you.
2. As per the charter, your saftey is your own problem. ISSN and other members may help you if they're not busy but don't count on it.
3. If you want to fly with ISSN, join the ISSN Reserves channel, get on Vent and turn your CSPA charges off. You'll often see gang's forming either with or without ISSN - type an X in channel if you want to join the gang. Also, make sure you set your Overview Settings for fleet ops.
4. Before deploying your POS, have your CEO check the Regional thread on this forum and at the very least touch base with the Regional Coordinator of your chosen region. The RC can advise you where is safe to deploy and might be able to give you direction on what to harvest or react. This will not only avoid potential political screw ups but should also help you slip into production more easily. However, what you produce at your POS is up to you.
5. Forum trolling on Eve-O is a big no-no. Please have the discipline to refrain from posting in any and all ISS related threads. It always does more harm than good, however honourable your intentions.
6. Keep the Corporation tab open on Alliances/Relationships/Enemies and minimised. That way you can do a quick check against those shifty looking types in local without having to constantly ask in the chat channels. If they don't show on the list, they're neutral which means we don't shoot em unless they shoot first!
7. I strongly recommend you take the time to create a hauler alt for use in empire (use a spare slot to make an Amarr industrial character and you can train him up to fly a Bestower in a few hours). This will avoid losing your expensive loads to an War Targets.
8. When hauling using your main in Empire or out in 0.0 always fit WCS/nanos, use instas and always use a scout. This will prevent expensive and unneccessary losses.
9. Finally, read the Charter! I can't stress this enough. If you want clarification on anything, ask in Alliance chat, or by all means evemail, PM or convo me in game.
