Well, that's jolly good fun.

Kinda L4D meets Laser Quest after stopping by at Serious sam to pick up weapons.

Exactly, that's how the maps feel to me, especially the first one. :)

I played a level of this and found it was quite red.

It also seemed quite derivative, there was a fat zombie which sicked up on you, a girly one that screamed at you and a crouching one that jumped at you, I hear there's also a big one that goes into a berserk rage. Not wanting to borrow from just the one game though, there's a near-invisible enemy, whose name contains a subtle clue as to it's inspiration - it's a Stalker.

Still, it seemed like silly fun and the perks system looked fun to do, even if it does mean it'll end up being played perhaps overmuch by some.

and oddly enough, the original mod came out in 2005.

The description of the enemies in the mod differ quite a bit from how they ended up in the retail release.

So while it seems derivative having played L4D first, they had some ideas first, but have also adjusted some of the original stuff to make it more like L4D, it seems.

Gave this is a quick 5 minute blast lunchtime. Vibe I got from it was a mix of L4D, Doom 3 and S.T.A.L.K.E.R

Gonna give it a longer go afterwork looks alright so far.

:) Normal mode, 10 waves.

It's bad, really, really, really bad :)

I did something similar with a few randoms, but some of the mutants experiments randomly disappeared when you shot them, kind of annoying.

Hmm, oddness.

Still, it's probably for the best, given how fucked up it gets towards the end.

Best mode: No shopkeeper, swarms of whatever the lesser mutant is called, no HUD, farm map.

Raiding houses for shotguns and locking doors to survive, hell yeah

Sounds unpleasant, in the good way.

:above: This. Intended to get last night but my internets fell over about 7.30 and didn't return until after I'd gone bedaways.

Still, got a good few hours in tonight. Jumped in to the extent that I'd not read controls, no clue really as to game mode/layouts etc. Was great fun going round killing things screaming and asking what the heal button was.

Boss creature is tough as fucking nails on normal with two more levels of difficulty after that! We felled one by Berk just standing still and burning it until it smashed him and then everyone emptying the biggest loudest things they had into it as fast as possible, anti-tank weapons, large bore double barrel shotties, grenades, knives, clubs, rocks and harsh words managed to fell the beast.

Found the monsters work well at herding instead of separating the players. The screams of the banshee things and the different paces of attack get you cornered and smashed. Feels very different to me compared to L4D. :likesitall:

Looking like a few of the established KF mappers are importing their stuff from the mod setup to this standalone version. Their maps look to be arriving in the next week or so. :likesitall:
