well...Tropical Storm/Hurricane arriving tomorrow...might knock out electricity/water...fun stuff...anyways...trying to finish up packing/tossing out shit...gotta return the cablemodem tomorrow or thursday b4 i take off so i'll be internetless for a month or 2 but i'll pop on somehow to say..."its f'n cold here" lol...going from 33c everyday to 23c and dropping till it snows in Nov/Dec...just hope the heat in my car works...never had to use it here..

Depends on the car, but sometimes the air intake for the heater can be rotated to point down at the engine and generate more heat in the car. The default setting in hot areas would be the other position.
We had a tornado here the other day. It nearly blew my bin over.

Not sure about the US, but in the UK/Europe most heater/vent systems have a recirculate setting that routes the air around the inside of the car, keeping the -40 chills out and the warm air in.
