BF2142 First Impressions.

Post by Vowles »

Well, I got chosen to play in the beta (Thank you EA... :) ) and have been playing it for around three or so days now.

First point I'd like to make is the Map is terrible. It is massive and the tanks are overpowered meaning anything else you drive ends up blown up.

Secondly, the land fighting on this map is terrible tanks and mechs everywhere little (no) room for a good infantry battle since the battlefield is covered in something with a motor and a big ass gun that turns humans into Dog Food.

Now for the good(ish) part. The Titans.

It is equally fun to attack and defend a titan and it really allows for some great teamwork. However, most people leave the assult for a direct missile attack with the silo's which can be kinda bland. Which brings me to a another point about the map.

Its REALLY random, and the've gone back to the BF1942 style of placing CPs(Random dots around the map) rather than the BF2(Advance and cap) method which is really hidious!

Its VERY hard to play with high rank players simply because of the unlocks they have. I feel guility everytime I kill a newbie because he has no defence against me what so ever.

While this is a BETA I'm really having mixed feelings about it. It almost seems a step back from what BF2 did to the BF series which was make it into more a think then play game rather than a click dont think and jump like a loon game.

Rating:4.3/10.

I would post some screenshots but they all came out blank Grrr

That's what betas are for kids, hopefully loads of other testers will be telling EA the same thing. Then I expect they'll ignore you anyway. Could be worse, you could have paid to test it for them.

Hmmm, I just came from server where it was mainly all one clan on both sides and well... it felt like a completely diffrent game.

Co-ordinated amour assault with air attacks to soften it up before. Actually using the titians as weapons and general working well together. It ment there was some heavy hard core infantry fighting often left you running around with your knife because you had no ammo left! The fact people worked together ment the biggies (Tanks/Land Walkers) didnt be much of a pest as normal however they still annoye the shite outta when Iam a infantry men running along a field and then BANGAGAGAGAGAGAGGAAA its worst the fact you can see bugger all from all the dirt kicked up by the rapid high calibre fire let alone get ripped to sheds :)

Current Rating(With good players)5.9ish/10

I can't see coordination like that happening often with 5punkers.

That :above:

However, i suspect this is more an issue with titan mode, than 2142 itself.

Also, releasing a gameplay tuning beta with only one map? That's fucking retarded.

Imagine if BF2 was tuned using, wake island. All the USMC hardware would massively overpower the chinese stuff so the US could get to the island alive.

Yeah, and aircraft would be completely overpowered, and AA would be underpowered and badly placed. Hang on...
