Music

Post by Roman Totale »

I'm not sure if there was already a music topic in here, but given that the search function is currently disabled (and I can't be arsed trawling backwards) I thought I'd create a brand new one.

<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mastodon_( ... astodon</a>

I think it was Deej who first recommended them to me, and I know Pete is a fan too. Fantastic band, manage to make concept albums without being pretentious. The album <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leviathan_ ... viathan</a> is absolutely fantastic. Based around Moby Dick, some people may recognise the lyrics from the first track from this:

PS: don't watch the videos, they're shit.

Edit: fuck knows what's going on with the coding.

Mastodon good, your links bad. No idea why I don't have more of their stuff.

This week I have mostly downloaded the Dropkick Murphys and Fleetwood Mac discogs. both are pleasing.

Also, because I don't spam them nearly enough.

<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korpiklaan ... iklaani</a> Finnish Folk Metal.

Awesome.

Royal Treatment Plant

Caught this band by pure chance on MTV on night. Very, very good. Lead singer has a superb voice and I really like the lyrics. I'd describe them as catchy like the Subways, but with a depth to the songs that is more reminiscent of bands such as the Smiths, and a rock element more akin to the Pixies.

The song linked above is just the first one of theirs I heard, Rest of the album is cool too.

Didn't see this happening  Play nice children.

At the moment I am finding myself listening to Wet Sans Brolly's Cornfed Humans
A strange US instrumentally band.

That reminds me. Seeing as people around these parts seem to like this kind of thing I'll pimp a work mate's metal band: Carnal Rites

That's most impressive.

Used to be a fan of Mastodon, but seeing them live almost wanted to make me cry in teenage angst. Terrible.

Lately the albums I've been whoring are: Birdy nam nam's self titled 2006 wikky wah wah stuff:

As well as whoring Junkie XL's Booming back at you and pretty much anything I can find by Incubus and Sevendust, I've tried to rebuild my music collection with 90% less* shit.

*more.
